Yeah, Discord 2 is always kind of warbly, it isn't really designed to be a pristine pitch shift since it is delay-based. It really works better as a special effect.

For something tidier, you'll want something along the FFT/PSOLA lines for that.

Here for example is the discontinued Omnivox:

Have a play around with Elevayta's Choirboy, it isn't perfect for a simple pitch shift, but is pretty good for doubling parts. Or stuff by Antares or Melodyne should get you in the same area, but at a much steeper price tag.

What's "DuoX"? Is that the plugin that MidiWorks never put out?
no, he put it out, its 12 bucks and it rocks, imo :D

theres alot of customization, but the GUI isnt exactly like doublers.

Thanks, Rene - what's going on with these? How come you don't market them normally?

I will do that soon but as TripplerX,
also the price will be raised to $59.

"Trippler", not Doubler! Nice.

Hehe, Waves "Doubler" doubles double voicings (so to speak), because it comes in both 2-voice and 4-voice versions...

So Waves really could've called them "Doubler" and "Quadler" for the two versions... ;)

Yeah, well, that's something I haven't even bothered bringing up yet: Waves can do 4 voices. In that way especially, nothing comes close.

Load 2 DuosX serial=2 voice+original
or 1 TripplerX later. ;)

Or ChoirsX giving you 14 Voices.
But its not a doubler...

Doubler is always 2 voice, not 3, 4 or 8. ;)

Yep, I'm just saying, Waves has one single...er...Quadrupler. Not a big deal.

Hey, I'm trying out this DuoX; very nice! It really sounds quite like a doubled part being sung by the same singer. Very nice, these are impressive products! Is there no demo for ChoirX?

Post

Thanks bduffy !

Yes there is,
but ChoirsX needs a 3 or 4 track harmony part
to show its magic.

Only 1 voice will NOT work !

Oh really! Interesting...so you would run 3 ot 4 instances?

Yes, you could do this but the sound would be huge,
maybe even too fat.

But if you have already three voice tracks, singing different harmonies
and now you add the effect globally, then you will be surprised.

Sure, if you want a bigger choir sound you can use two instances
of ChoirsX, or even 1 for each vocal part.

Both plug-ins are extremely light on CPU,
So there's nothing to stop you from trying out even crazy things.
