Stupid FL w/EZD question

Okay,
I know that obviously in FL you could assign individual crum wav samples to each channel, but when you have something like EZDrummer which has everything in it's own all-in-one VST but does multi-out as well, how do you assign each output on it to it's own FL step sequencer channel?
Is something like FPC going to work, too, with this or should be avoided altogether?

First off you should use the Piano roll to write the notes for each drum.
Each drum shpould have it's own assigned keyboard note key.
Individual outs should be assigned to the mixer.

Hey Paul,
FL's multiout/multitimbrality (multi-midi in) is kinda funky.
To get multitimbrality (have each drum part on its own FL piano roll), you need to set the plug-in's midi in port to a number of your choice. 5 for example. Next, create several instances of MIDI out in the step-sequencer view. Set these MIDI out channels to the MIDI port chosen, and have each channel act on the appropriate drum track MIDI channel (say you have all your kicks on MIDI channel 1, snares on 2, etc.). That should get you multitimbral playback. Please consult FL's help guide for a more detailed breakdown of these steps.
As for multi-audio output (into the FL Mixer), you need to enable the multi-out for the instance of fruity wrapper that your VSTi is hosted in. You can find it in one of the little drop-down boxes in the upper lefthand corner of the wrapper interface. After you do this, you need to set your plugin to a primary mixer channel, from which the multi-outs will go. For instance, if you select mixer channel 12, the first audio out will go to 12, the second to 13, third to 14, and so on.
If this seems a little complicated, don't worry about it. I had problems with setting this stuff up at first, but after playing around with the settings for awhile and reading the manual, I finally got the hang of it.
In other words, read the freaking manual.

does EZdrummer allow for mutiple midi channel input?...tbh I never tried with dfhs and really can't think of a reason why I would. Keyboard mapping works well for me...fwiw I'm too lazy today to read the manual todayatomic_(no)afro wrote:Hey Paul,

Isn't this a bit too complicated and overboard for getting the same results as using the pianoroll?
As a matter of fact you have more flexibility in the piano roll as you can change the amount of notes per bar and different "swings" by using the snap function.

For drums using the piano roll is much easier. Once you enable multi-outs, then simply assign a different channel to each voice to have it's own mixer channel and it's done, at least in Drumatic...
