Volume pedal guitar sample?

Anybody know of a sample or collection that contains a volume pedal lead guitar sound (0 db to mf really fast)? Steve Howe's a notable user of the kinda thing I'm going for. Yeah, I know I could just use my volume pedal on a gtr. sample, but I ain't that good w/my feet.

Also, might there be an effect out there that will do this to a gtr sample?

Thanks.

Stephen :)

What host do you use? Couldn't you just use a fade/volume envelope? That's all a volume pedal's doing...

I use SONAR, and I could do that, but I want to experiment with the part using that kind of sound and see what I come up with. Tried doing the mod wheel thing set to volume, but that limits me to one-handed playing.

...and I'm lazy.

Thanks for the reply.

That's not exactly technically correct.

If you put a traditional volume pedal between your amp and your guitar, the input signal gets attenuated, which can have dramatic effects on the sound that the amp produces.

If you use a preamp like the ToneLab, your output is attenuated instead, which is a very different sound.

If you just use a volume envelope, it will probably do a decent approximation of the preamp scenario, which might work just fine.

Thanks for the clarification, LS - I was assuming that the OP wasn't too fussy about the technical aspect, as he's using samples anyway :)

On the original question, I know that Manytone has ManyGuitar(?) for Wusikstation, but I wouldn't know if they have volume swells.

Thanks for the replies and advice. I've got a few guitar collections and also usually tweak basic elec gtr samples with Guitar Rig to get whatever specific effect I'm going for. Alas, it has no volume swell effect, at least not that I've found. Watto - you're right - I'm not too fussy about the hows and whys, but I agree with Lord S that the signal path plays a part in the actual sound. In any case, my intention is to jam with the effect or sample in real time. Ideas that sound good in my head don't always translate to good audio.

Yeah, just crank up the attack, and then you'll get a volume swell.

Likewise, you can use some gate effects to simulate a swell. I don't know if this works on all gate effects...
