SONAR Track Icons Display Problem

I originally posted this issue on the official SONAR forum, but no one could seem to replicate this issue there. Basically, when I use Track Icons in my SONAR projects, there's all kinds of sizing problems. This video demonstrates the issue (first discovered when building some track templates), but the same thing happens whenever I substitute the default icons with custom ones (not only ones I created, but the SONAR stock ones as well).

Watch the video: http://www.timpanella.com/media/icons.wmv

Anyone have any thoughts on what might cause this?

I've already ruled out:

1.display / video issues (changing screen resolution and color bit depth has no effect)
2.icon size / format (my icons are the recommended size and .bmp format according to the SONAR manual and help file)
3.cakewalk.ini (I made 2 entries in [WINCAKE] to control icon size... it made no difference)
4.interference from another application (no other apps are running, just the typical background processes)
5.interference from Contour ShuttlePro (on a hunch, disabled this device just in case something was screwy with the "focus")

If there's any other thing I might be missing here, I'm certainly open to suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Other pertinent info (?):
CPU - Carillon P4 833MHz 2GB RAM
Video Card - Matrox Millenium G550 Dual Head
Monitors - Viewsonic VX910 and VX924
SONAR - Version 5.2

Problem may be related to the Matrox PowerDesk utility - it causes conflicts with other software - I believe you can disable it, or at a minimum disable the "feature" that may be the cause of the conflict:
EG)
Under the Matrox Desktop Management function, you can force application-specific settings: THe Save/Restore Window positions feature has caused issues in other programs - don't know about SONAR....
1.) From the Matrox PowerDesk utility, under the Desktop Management function, click Application-specific settings.
2.) In the subsequent dialog, click Add to display a mirror copy of the Desktop Management dialog, but also containing application name and path fields.
3.) Browse for the application -- in this case the SONAR executable and path -- and un-check the Save/Restore window positions feature.
4.) Click OK.

If all else fails I would make sure I am using the latest version of the Matrox drivers for the vid card.

Thanks for the info. I just got the updated drivers and installed (no change yet), but I can't seem to find the Application Specific settings you mentioned within the PowerDesk settings. I've tried each menu item from QuickDesk (Multi-Display Controls, Desktop Schemes, Window Positions, etc.) and each tab under Display Properties - Settings - Advanced, but the only thing close to what you've described is just a simple checkbox for "Automatically save/restore desktop icon positions" and "Automatically save/restore window positions" (both are unchecked).

This is as good a lead as I've had, so if you can be more specific as to how I can modify settings per application, I'm certainly willing to try just about anything at this point.

Thanks much!

Sorry I can't be more specific - my familiarity is for the Parhelia card which also uses the Matrox PowerDesk utility - but it sounds like a different version.
Personally I would try to disable the Powerdesk utility entirely to see if the problem disappears.I think you can nuke Powerdesk from the Task Manager. At least this would tell you if its related to Powerdesk or not.

Yeah, I was afraid of that. Still, I'll try messing with some of the other parameters and/or obliterating it all together and see what happens. Thanks again for your help!
