AHHHHH! sf2 Help please!!!

Hi there,

i have 10 soundfont banks that have up to 100 instruments each(!)
Now the problem: Most of the Instruments have a waaaaaay to long
release-time (like 100 seconds or something stupid like this).

So my question is: Is there a program available or a way to change the amp release for ALL of these sf2 files and instruments AT ONCE?

Probably not... Soundfont editors aren't known for their super-slick features beyond the minimal required ones.

wait!! Isn't there some kind of SF2->TXT generator/software out there? I think i've heard of something like this! This way i could generate text files for all the files, run a "batch process find and replace" over them, and convert them back!!

mhh.....but where is such a tool?
Does someone know?

You see it lacks all sorts of data...

An import of the text file it created itself resulted in Error: not a text formatted data file!

if you use them in sfz you can adjust the release with sfz buddy

or in a soundfont editor: create a global zone including all the instruments, and give it a short release

mhh i doubt that will work since these use several presets/patches... not instruments within one preset... :/

Suppose it takes 5 secs to adjust one release time.
In this last hour you could have done about 720 of them

I've found a commandline tool that converts SF2's to text-files that are describing then. thats perfect. problem: no wildcard support

so, does someone know a windows commander or someting for BATCH processing using a commandline option "sf2comp d" filexy.sf2 , filethis.sf2 nextone.sf2 and so on? :rolleyes:

Use a scripting language like Perl or Python.
