If they still work.
About the thing "what essential changes happened from SX2 to SX3" I can say: THERE'RE A LOT!
Most important to me as hardware user was the implementation of MIDI maps and SYSEX editing again. Then the audio editing functions (that can still be enhanced) to synch the stuff to beats. Better routing, especially with the FX send. Automation improvements, and way more I can't remember off hand - look at the changelogs at Steinberg.net
You can't deny that Cubase constantly evolves. It's just that they start something, then don't pull it off properly and piss of their users this way.
But like often said - how every tool works beast for each other. For me it's Cubase. I miss some tools however - but KVR is a good source. However, I'm really curious what Steinberg is up to. And waiting is really hard, however end of september, the cat's outta the bag - 1st october latest as soon as all german magazines are released with "special features of Cubase 4" (if it's really Cubase 4, which I still think is a degration - not to mention, how are the LE and SE versions called?)

There's more hidden stuff in those screenshots btw. Like snap to zero crossing in the project window. This was only available in the sample editor previously.

well there was some text and some updated ableton live-ish graphics, especially the new track EQ. There was also plugins that mimic logic design style. It all looked rather unexciting and normal, ie. nothing to see there. It was still Cubase SX basically. Let's just hope they are able to justify the update cost with something, like the apparent audio engine revision/re-write.
I'll let the impatient folk lot do the beta testing and suffer initial upgrade pains.

I noticed an amp simulator as one of the new plugins!
Check out the insert list on http://img3.guitarcenter.com/dbase/pics ... 439106.jpg and you'll see some interesting plugins

Oh how exciting! I only have about 3 of each already, likely in superior quality.

(I'll give a pity point for trying though)

Despite the fact that the new multiband compressor is ugly as f**k, it's better to control than the old Steinberg ones. Everything else is really... ugly as f**k. And "OMG HUGE LOL!".
Gee... Come on Steinberg, give us some real stuff and no mockups! *yarr*

Yeap, nothing really exciting so far, and so was sx3 for me, except the bug fixesKingston wrote:well there was some text and some updated ableton live-ish graphics, especially the new track EQ. Playback buffers, like Samplitude's Hybrid Engine would be cool (http://www.samplitude.com/eng/sam/hybrid.html), but I have very little hope.Let's just hope they are able to justify the update cost with something, like the apparent audio engine revision/re-write.
Time to switch, I guess

That Samplitude engine sounds cool. Have you used it yet? Does it live up to its own hype?
Well, I was happy with SX 2 until very recently. So I'll sit back and wait, like Kingston says, for the bugs to be worked out and pick up a used copy for $250.

Don't be too hasty, they say that 10 will blow the doors off of 9mbncp wrote:>> That Samplitude engine sounds cool. Have you used it yet?
Nope, the link to the demo seems broken. But I'll wait for version 9 as it seems even better.

Those that can, do. Those that can't, argue about it on k-v-r
