Interesting

From this, the Cubase 4 thread and Live 6 beta it looks like they all will converge sometime in the near future.

Hey...wasn't that one of the signs of the end of the world in Revelations 8)

Those that can, do. Those that can't, argue about it on k-v-r

the number of the beast -> 6, 6, erm 4? Nah, we're okay. :)

Interesting. :o

Hmm, a Cakewalk rep wrote in the "Free upgrade to Sonar 6" thread at their forum that the Lexicon Pantheon Reverb would not be included in v6.

Someone got (at least) that fact wrong, or maybe the list hadn't been finalized yet...

Thanks for the info, whyterabbit! :)

Heh... teh funnay!

No proper side-chaining yet huh? That was one of the two features I was really hoping would make it into S6. Though the "Audio Snap" feature was the other. It might just be worth it to upgrade.

Post

Mmmmmm... audio quantize...

Question:
Hope for the rhythmically challenged?
Or one of the horsemen of the apocalypse?

Sonar 7 is sure to include the "Auto-sing" and "Auto-mix" plug-ins.

Talent will soon be optional.

When was the last time you listened to the radio? :P

The bullets that caught my eye are more for streamlining workflow than bypassing performance shortcomings:

# Fast Zoom enables fast, precise edits without losing your place
# Mouse wheel support for parameter control and zoom
# User-customizable plug-in menus for easy organization and grouping
# User-customizable audio hardware port naming
Drum machines are people too.

The only plug-in that is present in SONAR 5 Producer Edition that will be missing from SONAR 6 Producer Edition will be the Lexicon Pantheon Surround Reverb

no auto-quantize for midi? :(

Post

Audio quantize, as evil as it most certainly is, is a necessity. I spent last weekend helping a friend of mine out by recording a track for him. Now he's a good guitar and bass player, but he's certainly not a drummer. The playing with a click helped out some, but after about 30 attempts there's still just timing mistakes left and right. Now would I prefer he could play better? Sure. Or would I prefered having brought in a drummer? Absolutely. That said, yes, audio quantizing and better editing abilities are a huge plus. It's not like PT users and just about every major studio on Earth haven't been snapping drums to grid for years now.

I'm interested in the automation improvements. Sonar up to now has been way behind the competition in this respect, IMO.

I'm pretty sure he said it was just the Surround version that wouldn't be included.
