Some questions about Powercores, let's learn more about this

hey guys, I understand how the UAD1 works in terms of latency & plugin authorizations. I was just wondering how the TC card works.

Does it have latency ? How much ?
Is authorization simple ? Are there any challenge / response, dongles involved ?

I was interested in probably adding an Access Virus plugin to the card if I bought one, any idea if the protection on the Virus plugin is harsh ? How many do you think I could run per card (i.e. would 1 Powercore be enough ?)

Pretty much the same. Onece the card is installed you just install the software.

Yes it has latency, depends on the plugins you use.
Authorization is simple. There are no challenge / response processes, no dongles... the card is a big enough dongle if you ask me

You can only run one instance of the virus on a card at a time unless you buy a multi licence. If you do that then you can run one version per chip chip that you have installed, four per card. The protection is not harsh at all. Once you have your numbers it it easy. TC was very quick with getting back to me.

oh ya one other thing, it is very important to remember that if you want to use it at higher sampling rates than 44.1 you are SERIOUSLY limited by the dsp cars power. Where talking about 3 notes at a time at 96Khz. That is the main reason I sold it.

If super low latency is your thing then UAD does much better in that department. (64samples here)
I don't remember exactly but in an e-mail I got from Poco technical support they suggested something like over 1000 samples as a minimum and that made it a no-go for me.
