Anti-Room

Yep sounds like a stupid term I know. But...
Ok here is the problem: When I mic my tube amp with an SM57 I get a nasty room depth which I hate. It gets better if I place the microphone closer to the amp but room is still there a bit.
How can I get rid of that room depth captured by the mic?
I guess the answer is doing some tricks by impulse responses. Like taking the impulse of the room and...dunno the rest!! De-convolution??
Is there anyone who could help me? I think it is possible (at least to a certain degree) but how?
Thanks in adavance.

Make it simpler... limit the room around the amp and the mic. Curtains, blankets, etc...
Build some kind of "box" around the amp and the mic and your issues should be gone.

try putting a thick blanket over the amp and mic while recording. or moving the amp to another room/cupboard etc. it'll be much easier than trying to remove the reverb using some 180 degree phase cancellation convolution crazyness.
a bit of careful gating/expansion can tame the reverb on percussive sounds, but you're mostly out of luck trying to remove reverb after it's been recorded on anything vaguely sustained..

the acoustic barrier (ie. mattresses, thick blankets, furniture) always helps and is your first line of defense against bad sounding rooms.
If this fails you could try gating the recorded track. Depending on the style of playing and the guitar sound, it might do the trick just fine.
...then again it might not.

..blah mine was a useless post. adydub already said everything I did.
