Bloody hell. On one side you've got "FL is for girls and tarnce kiddies and is not a serious audio app" and on the other it's "Where's the brushed aluminium and blue glass?"

I'm all for good presentation and wish you could change FL's colours; a nice metallic blue to match my JP-8000 would be nice. You can't, but I wouldn't go as far as to start a thread bitching about it because as a host it just works. The gray seems to serve a better purpose since my eyes don't look like two piss holes in the snow after hours of working on a track.

I'm sure IL will add extra themes at some point, but for now it's more about the sound. If you prefer the minimalist look, use Orion in all its monochromatic glory.

Analogue or digital – which is better? There's only one way to find out... FI-I-IGHT!!!

yeah but you don't seem to understand, this complaining folk are the type of "professionals" who let color schemes and GUI styles influence their music productions and decisions.

Placebo and voodoohoodoo beliefs always walk hand in hand with music technology. After all, it's art and hi-tech combined. Quite the hostile marriage to be honest.

they just have to change their wallpaper more often and that's all

FL STUDIO HAS THE KICKEST ASS-EST GUI IN GUI LAND :band2:

Post

the people who think the FL ui is shit likely aren't fans of the 'underground' roots of computer music (the trackers, the demo scene, etc).

i'd imagine that most of the people whining about the UI are whining only about the neutral dark colors and not the actual UI...

there are solutions to the dark issue btw. :) turn up the brightness on your display, adjust the contrast, or even use a software applet to adjust the gamma.

it could be great if IL implemented some kind of 'color theme' system where the components are the same and only the colors are adjustable, but there are so freaking many individual colors that creating a color theme would be a big time consuming process. another option could be to apply a color tint and brightness/contrast adjustment globally to the entire thing in some kind of 'overlay' or something. but that can be emulated with 3rd party tools already so...

a good tool for modifying colors (yes all colors but may suit some): http://www.snapfiles.com/get/gammapanel.html

you could adjust the red/green/blue components to whatever you like, then save the preset (it supports presets) calling it 'flstudio', and only use it by right clicking the icon in the tray and choosing the preset. when done with flstudio choose 'default' preset.

FL's UI is almost as sexy as Ahlyn. :D

I thought that you are able to customize FLS... In any case, the FLipside has FL skins. I thought you can replace certain elements, like the startup and the colors of the menus.

In any case, if you are saying that FL's colors aren't that great, I don't want to think of what your opinion of the KVR skin is

:shudder:

:hihi:

elakahna; you can tweak the existing bitmaps but that's it. you can't do a 'real' job on it.. :)

Baniev wrote:in Reason it is way easier with the scrool bar, you hqave no problem to see everything at once. Ir is also way more colorful and you have way more fun to work with Reason than with the f**king grey skin of FL Studio. All cellphones have themes etc and this expensive music program in that you want spend many hours to make good music has just this ugly skin, unbelievable.
Maybe is you still have a 13" CRT but Reasons 800 pixel rack GUI is a f**king joke. Reason's GUI is one of the worst I have ever come across, its all form over function.
whyterabbyt wrote:Funny that the real 3D animators I know think the opposite. But then they dont confuse pretty pictures with a user interface the way you always do.
Interesting, given that I use the Max GUI with B&W icons, not the coloured and shaded ones. The Max icons are also small enough they they don't impinge unduly on screen-space, which is actually what I was talking about. I doubt any professional in the field would think that pretty icons make a good GUI, its about flexibility and functionality.
Well if the one single UI improvement you've made in Maya8 is anything to go by, it seems highly unlikely.
Do you seriously think that in the very short time since the Alias acquisition we have been able to have any input at all into Maya8? It was feature-complete in January or thereabouts and the only thing we did was integrate the "render for TOXIK" MEL/Python script into one of the drop-down menus. Maya development is still being done in Toronto by the same people who always did it. Its good to see that it only took them 8 versions to allow their serious professionals to create geometry anywhere in 3D space they like. I laughed out loud when showing that got "ooohh"s and "aaaahh"s from the audience.
Im sure you'll be calling yourself an expert in it in no time, though.
Well, I am going to have to get our new Maya AE to teach me the basics but I realised a long time ago, when I first got my hands on the PLE, that I will always be better with Max and will always fall back on it for serious work. Functionally I see absolutely no advantage in bothering, there is absolutely nothing I can do in one that can't also be done in the other, the major difference is how much easier most things are in Max, something that anyone with experience in both will attest to.

I think sub-division surfaces well and truly did for Rhino. Things like Z-Brush and Mud Box are the go these days.

Only a complete idiot would think that these things don't impact on one's creativity. Like I said, if we were talking about spreadsheets it would almost certainly be irrelevant but we're talking about artistic endeavour and anything that inspires you to be more creative is completely valid, as long as it doesn't get in the way.

Baniev wrote:Well now there is Fl 6 out there since a half year or something, there arent realy much new features since FL Styudio5 out there but as i work with vsts it doesnt matter for me. I am asking me if the developers will develop some new skins for FL Studio because this grey skin loks realy ugly IMO. All other hosts look way better than FL Studio which looks like some amateur program compared to the other programs, will there be some change with the next version?

here's a fl6 skin i just slaped together ..

anyone bitching about the colors and the darkness effecting their music in a negative way is a straight up retard.

go make some f**king music and quit bitching you hoes!

i'm glad IL focuses on the sound, and usability of the application rather than dumb shit like this.

the UI is perfect - leave it alone.
