Chordspace seems more complex with a steaper learning curve.. Then again the it might be more functional..

Mess with Playa. It's more fun than a barrel load of monkeys.

Now with improved MIDI jitter!

Ok some downsides to Chordspace..

- A lot of cpu spikes!! (In FLS)
- Should be a way to record the Chords in MIDI (had to set up xt to grab the actual notes from midi)
- Kinda weird in the area of programming the chord root notes (should stop the rest of the notes that are not chords)...
- Have to kinda know what all those weird signs mean.. Gots to know theory a bit!
- What if I wanted to play chords that "sound like" what I want to hear..??

I'm currently working on something that is similar (but different) to ChordSpace but it also allows you to choose from scales (or build your own scales) and allows you to build your own chord circle diagrams (like in ChordSpace with the chords in groups and the groups arranged in a circular fashion) but customisable so users can have a set of chords they want to use for songwriting.

Basically a master screen where the user can select a scale and all chords will be displayed for each of the intervals, the user can then choose a chord, and then go to the chord circle screen and assign the chord to a chosen place in the chord circle. Each chord on the chord circle screen can have it's own scale, so you can play a chord and the scale will be automatically loaded on to the keyboard, allowing you to jam with the chord. Every single note of the chord (plus bass notes) can be customised as to what MIDI channel the note will be sent to.

Take it from me, it will be amazing. I was waiting for what some others could come up with, so far ChordSpace Playa is truly amazing, but I'm going to see if I can do something different and better. I'm sure every variety of music will be covered. There will be tons of chords and tons of scales. All the triads and quads covered, all the extended chords, alternate chords, every chord I can find will be there and there are literally hundreds of chords out there, and that's just in the key of C.

 Great ! Do you plan to enable full notes midi chords writing ? That is what I am looking for long time...

I'm unsure what you mean by "full notes midi chords writing"...could you please elaborate? It's not a sequencer. It doesn't record incoming MIDI, but it will process notes on your keyboard so that all white keys are mapped to the chosen scale. On the chord circle page you'll be able to assign black keys to the chords in the circle. It basically will output MIDI. However, I am thinking of adding a little grid editor so one can create a chord progression and then play it, which will output MIDI to MIDIYoke or something like that, and record the MIDI input from MIDIYoke in their sequencer.

It's a lot like the original ChordSpace, but I will be using a graphic design that is different from hexagrams. You will see when it's ready to go. I will be writing this utility with VB 2005 Express and using the MIDI-OX component object model for handling the MIDI stuff which means it will be streamlined for ease of use and it will hopefully be bug free when it is released.
