This was some of the the discussion on Looptalk:
The user defined problem-
"FXBus A routes to Master 100% and 10% to FXBus B. If I ALT-Click FXBUS B, I get Master, FXBusA and FXBusB. That's right except that I also get the route between FXBus A and master, when I used to only get the send bus."
The user suggested solutions-
"My send-solo method is to route everything to FX1, which I label 'Output', except the psuedo-sends (or 'sendlets') which go into FX2, labelled 'Returns'. Then, when alt soloing the sendlets, it works as before. Probably a bit of a long winded method."
"Or you could also just solo the input and unroute it to the master, which is fine unless you have six tracks feeding into one send."
The reason this is so confusing-
"When you solo a channel, it mutes all other channels. This is normal behaviour with any mixing desk." -FL Staff
Of course that's sort of the idea, but on most hardware mixers, when you solo the send, you hear (depending on whether or not you have selected pre/post fader) the tracks routed to the send + the FX, or FX only.
It is frustrating, especially since it seems like an argument of semantics ("solo means one, dammit") rather than an issue of usability or code-ability. I also take exception to the argument that "this is normal behaviour with any mixing desk." I can't name one desk, digital or analog, that is routed the FL6 way.

I agree, if you solo a channel that is routing audio, you should expect to hear it - irrespective of semantics.... not solo it, only to find you've actually muted it instead
I think with the clever routing options they created something capable of all kinds of paradoxical and counter-intuitive behaviour, but soloing send channels should be a given.

Indeed, I remember myself and others trying to explain to Gol how solo actually works on a mixer, but alas..Cordelia wrote:Which is why I still use FL5 as well. Edit - to be fair, I reckon the *idea* behind the modular mixer appraoch is laudable, it's just the implementation that is a little.. off.
(While we're at it, I also dislike the fact that you can't see, at a glance, what is routed to what, without relying on little orange icons that may or may not be onscreen.)
