Hello everyone,
I did a web/forum search for reviews of the K2 tutorial DVD and it came up with little blurbs, but nothing in depth. With the current deals on the tutorial/expansion lib, I was looking for feedback.
How good is the tutorial DVD? Does it go into any tips on how to optimize K2 for your system? Is it worth the price for someone who uses K2 mainly as a sample player? Is the expansion library worth the price? Whats its strengths/weaknesses? Are there any 3rd party vendors who offer a better deal on the tutorial/expansion lib combo?
Thanks in advance for any help!

...it depends on how familiar you already are with Kontakt (ha ha!). I think, it replaces the manual to a very high degree, i.e. a lot of the tutorial explains the basic functions. That's great for people who are new to Kontakt, but people who are experienced will be bored for most of the time and only get a new tip every now and then (unless you have missed it because you fell asleep, which happened to me several times
). The interviews with the celebrity users and the designers are like the ones on the Absynth DVD pretty useless and embarrasing considering how they're advertised. There is a chapter about setting up your system (but nothing new in comparison to the manual) and some tips on how to save CPU from time to time (for instance on the Convolution module - but nothing spectacular). I have also Kontakt Experience and I'd say it's somehow even a better tutorial on Kontakt because it can give you ideas for your sound-design. I would really buy the bundle at this discounted price, as the DVD (for me) definitely isn't worth its regular price. See it like this, if you don't like both you can sell them seperately on Ebay very likely making a benefit. I'm glad I found my copy on Ebay and it will definitely go there again...

I thought the dvd was brilliant. Of course, if you read through all the documentation and experimented lots with it yourself, then you are probably not going to learn anything new. I didn't, really - well, I did once but forgot a lot of stuff - and I have to say that the dvd was really informative and tought me some stuff that I used right away.
Part of this all is that even when you've learned all the theory, it's still interesting to see how others use it. The only thing that disappointed me a bit (although disappointed is maybe too strong a word here) is that it's a DVD ROM and I was kind of hoping that it would play on my dvd. On the other hand, the idea is to be able to play with Kontakt 2 alongside the tutorial, so this is perhaps better anyway.

i like it. even though there wasnt really anything "new" i like see how other people work with the software, picking up some smarter ways of doing things by just observing the flow of other peoples work

I think it is worth getting if you want to see (like Lavoll says) other people showing you things on Kontakt. Sometimes this will jumpstart you to try new things.
