hello,
i was wondering if there are samples, or a virtual instrument out there that impersonates the great rumbly and rubbery sound of a rickenbacker bass?

there was a gigasampler set of a ricky 4003 that came with an LE version of gigasampler that I got with a piece of hardware a few years back. I didnt find it to sound much like a bass guitar, much less a rickenbacker.
I dont think I have heard an amazingly real bass sample set, just several that are passible for certain types of basslines.

I think Sonic Implants still have some Rickenbacker soundfonts.

Broomstick Bass includes a Rickenbacker 4001.

I pretty much stick to the Fender Jazz Bass myself, but in general the sampling is top notch.

My temptation is to wait patiently for Jamstix' bass project to deliver...but the Broomstick Bass package sounds pretty convincing, conceptually. Way too damn expensive, IMHO.

Have you shopped around? I wouldn't assume the price at the website is the real price you would need to pay.funkychickendance wrote:My temptation is to wait patiently for Jamstix' bass project to deliver...but the Broomstick Bass package sounds pretty convincing, conceptually. Hardcore Bass XP includes a decent Rickenbacker along with some other interesting basses.
You'll only hear the full potential of these basses if you own Kontakt and do some remapping, the upper 2 velocity layers are basically useless noise. But the rest of the layers spread out over the full velocity range gives you some basses you won't find anywhere else atm.
Cheers, susiwong
