I'm going to have to upgrade my recording computer. I could use some info. What are the specs of the machines you're using for recording? Oh, and what are you running on them? THANKS!

System: Dell XPS Gen4 Intel 3.4Ghz Extreme Edition w/1Gb RAM (and planning a bump to 4Gb soon)
74 Gb Western Digital SATA primary hard drive, 2 external Maxtor USB Drives (60 Gb and 200 Gb)
Audio Cards: Creative Audigy, Echo GINA 24
MIDI Interface: Edirol UM-2
MIDI Controller: Edirol PCR-30, Casio MG-510
Hosts: Sonar 5, eXT, MiniHost, Audition 1.5
Synths/ROMplers: too many to name specifically so some brands -> Spectrasonics, GMEDIA/OhmForce, Algomusic, Wusik, Native Instruments, IK Multimedia, Speedsoft

Lovely 17" Samsung TFT monitor
Running Audiomulch, eXT, CDP, and various VST FX. Without a hitch I might add, though that's probably because I'm more audio based. Currently recording my sounds using my university's equipment, but looking to get some microphones and a nicer card with good I/O once that's no longer a possibility.

Thanks, guys this really helps! Does anyone find a huge diff with Pent,Athlon, or Celery? I hear Athlons are pretty quick with gaming and such . . .

Both machines doubletask in graphic design and image editing and serve me and my dearest for general office duties, and recently some gaming as well.
Dedicated, latest & greatest is always nice, but hardly necessary that's my point. Intel dualcores are the latest word in brutal processing power if you're after that.
