i want to make a piano-like sound with my electric guitar

im trying a with combination of filtering (e.g. sp3ctr3 and some pluggo stuff) and psp pianoverb

any ideas?

Simple: guitar -> Audio2Midi plugin -> piano plugin.

thanks, but i dont want a "real piano" sound

i have a couple of songs with sampled pianos, but it feels fake so im looking for a way to replace the piano tracks with real playing (i only play the guitar). but the songs are more or less built around the piano chords, so i need to keep the piano-like character or they will fall apart

You could try to emulate the nature of it by making the chordshape before touching the fretboard, and really slamming it down (like tapping, but with multiple fingers) but i imagine this would be very hard to do

Robert Fripp can make the piano sound with his axe without any particular hand technique. I've always wondered how you can obtain this with effects (it is not triggered samples, it's sounds pianoish but not quite like a real piano). Anyone knows ?

yes i thought about comb filters tuned to the chords (not vocoding i know, but the idea of triggering something pre-tuned and piano-like is similar)

piano samples feel like cheating to me

deliberately painting myself into a corner here

try smacking the guitar strings like a piano hammer smacks them. and smack them closer to the bridge.

Who is that bassist, Levin?, that wears these, what i think are, wooden extensions strapped to his fingers for just that kind of attack.

reminds me of a recording i did by tuning the guitar to a chord and throwing cutlery at it from the other side of the room

will definitely try making some hammers

maybe even fix them to the body of the guitar with springs

can anyone recommend a good audio to midi plugin most of the ones i've tried dont seem too great...
