At my company -- an MMORPG developer -- the artists use Max. I don't think they're all thrilled with the choice, but they live with it.
We don't give a shit about the rendering, as everything just gets exported to Granny and we render it in our engine.
We're Windows-only on development and target client boxes, with a mix of Windows and Linux servers.

improve that toolbars please, in 15 inch screens they took much space, make it possible to have just one line of toolbars, ..well it must look just great on 17 inch screens.. sometimes is one off the problem i have with flstudio , less space, a little confusion.
