I think there's a compressor on the output.
I might be wrong though.

There's saturation going on & in 'complex' mode you're basically running two instances of the compressor serially.
The Fish Fillets manual explains it pretty much.

hey kingston whats up with that iron plug

Good observation wsaidah. There IS a limiter on the output . It comes handy, but it would be nice if we could turn it off for some applications... not everybody likes limiters, I - for instance. There are few really good limiters on the market...

However, Blockfish sounds really nice and a bit unique for some applications.

Cheers!

You'd think that a block would sink, and sink fast, but this fish swims, and swims swimmingly :)

Though I have no idea whatsoever what that means

As Diverdee said...

So, of course there's limiting going on. Although I would suspect the saturation is level-dependent. I haven't tested if there's any saturation on low levels - if it were trying to be a real emulation, then it wouldn't. As also mentioned...there is an extremely good manual provided by Sascha. Even without Blockfish, the manuals Sascha wrote should be compulsory reading for anyone starting out with compression etc.

Blockfish is the one VST I use on everything.

It's the best compressor out there, and it's free. (Plus nifty GUI)

Yeah, people just don't get it.

Blockfish and Endorphin, used judiciously, are really all the compression one needs for all kinds of musical applications.

We are lucky bastards, we early twenty-first century musicians.
