Getting Kontakt to read embedded MIDI note

Hi,

I've been trying to get Kontakt 2 to import several WAV files and map them across the keyboard. Instead of using the embedded MIDI root note to determine where to map the notes, it instead arranges them in alphabetical order. Is there a way to get Kontakt to read the embedded MIDI note information and map the files across the keyboard appropriately? Failing that, is it possible to get the note from the filename? (its at the end of the filename eg. Piano-C4.wav). I've looked through the manual, and done a google search, but haven't managed to find any info on how to do this - but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. If anyone could give instructions on how to achieve this, or even confirm that its impossible, I would be very grateful.

Thanks very much,
Ben

Hi Ben,

The short answer is no.

Kontakt cannot assign a sample (zone) to a key using either its filename or root note.

It is quite a common request over at the NI forum, but nothing has been done about it.

Paul.

Hi,

Thanks very much for the answer. Its shame they haven't implemented it, as I would have thought one of their programmers could code it in a day, and it would be pretty handy for quite a few people.

Now I remember why I don't build directly in Kontakt! :dog: :nutter:

I create my maps in sf2 with VSampler and then import the soundfont and then save the .nki
