Instead of downloading them, how would you go about making a kick of your own?
The only way I know is to make a sine wave and then alter its pitch mostly from the beginning. Then I would add some bass to it and voilà.
Do you know any better ways to do this? Those mere sine kicks sound a bit boring, I need some power to them.

You could try using a drumsynth like Drumatic (VST) or DrumSynth (standalone unless you're using Fruityloops afaik), which give you a good basic structure but leave you plenty to play with.
