Not really sure if this is a effect question but here it goes.
I could record my voice and pitch it down to get a lower sounding voice(FL studio, but when you do that you can hear that it sounds like exactly that.....you lowered the pitch. It has that sound of just slowing down a spinning record for instance. Is there an effect that you can put over a vocal track and lower the voice without it sounding like your slowing down the speed? I hope you guys understand my question.
A freeby would be great

No time stretching is what I am doing in FL studio. it just has that slowed down sound which is what I am trying to avoid.

yamaha pitch fix. it only outputs mono u can change the pitch and formant. there ia also antares auto tune im not sure if that gives a stereo or mono output. both cost money i think

Melodyne or any other dedicated pitch-shift software.

Very convincing as long as you don't alter the pitch more than a few tones.

Voice Tweaker Lite from www.rbcaudio.com can do that, for about $60.
(This plugin also offers pitch correction, so it's a pretty good deal).

Ultrapitch Shift from http://www.waves.com can do it too, for $$$+++

And so can my own Clone Ensemble (link in my sig below) for $25.
(Aimed at unison choir sounds, but you can solo it. Also, the transposition is limited to an octave up or an octave down.)

Each of these sounds slightly different, and they all offer control over formants, which is what produces the chipmunk / Darth Vader sounds (or lack of them).
Also, each of them may experience tracking issues (each slightly different) depending on the source vocal.

If you already have FL Studio you can do it natively. One of the controls on the timestretch feature is for pitch and allows you to alter pitch without changing sample length. If that doesn't work and the sample still sounds slowed down you're doing it wrong!

Try PVTRANSP. It is part of a bundle of VSTs. It made my guitar sound like a bass. It might be easier than recording you vocals and manipulating them. Or you could do both and get REALLY low vocals.

By the way,

You people have to check out clone ensemble. Trevor's plugins are AMAZING!!!! I've been using them for years!

If you have any major DAW, they come with excellent pitch shifters and Sonar 5 PE comes with Roland Variphrase - which is Melodyne-like.
