Anyone know where to get these. I remember that there were some samples floating around here or at the Auditorium of these but I cannot find them now. If anyone could help it would be appreciated.

I have "kontakt_bowl.zip" (255K) and "kontakt_chimes.zip" (2.6M). They both came from the same site, but I don't remember where it was now, and the zip contents don't tell me anything, either.
There was just one bowl wav file and four NKI files for the former, and seven chime wav files and four NKI files for the latter.

It looks the registered version of Translator is able to convert the Alesis Fusion samples. (My free version could not.)
After some Googling, I found these:
http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/tagsViewSingle.php?id=793 -- There are a few samples here at Freesound
http://www.dorumalaia2.com/230ethnicdrumsperc.htm - Doru's Samples CD contains a set of Singing Bowls (among tons of other sampled instruments)
http://tek4.com/ForSale/SingingBowl/bowl.wmv -- A short video of a singing bowl being played
Cheers,

Another vote for www.dorumalaia2.com -- "230 Ethnic Drums and Percussions" has 38 samples of Tibetan singing bowl and over 6300 other samples. Great stuff and it's very inexpensive.

Thanks everyone, I will try the hollowsun set but I suspect that these were not the ones I had before. Oh well I'll give them a go (after converting them) and let you all know.

The bowl samples that you are refering to from the Auditorium came from suburban grilla I think. He also is around kvr from time to time so you might be able to just ask him if he still has the samples. They are pretty resonant. I have used them a few times, but by the time I'm done with them they usually no longer bear any resemblence to singing bowls. Good luck with the search.Wine wrote:Anyone know where to get these. Yes, I think that's it - they were in Kontakt format when I downloaded them. I thought it might be HollowSun...JamminFool wrote:are you talking about the ones at hollow sun?

I did have these in Kontakt format but my bandwidth was being crippled by the number of downloads (to the point of it shutting the site down!) and I couldn't afford to continue.dougsyo wrote:Yes, I think that's it - they were in Kontakt format when I downloaded them. I'm not sure I have them anymore so if anyone has the Kontakt versions and wants to send them to Wine, I'd have no objection.
I am now supporting the Alesis Fusion (which is excellent BTW if you are in the market for a good synth/sampler/workstation!) and the freepacks are in a proprietary format that is not compatible with any other sampler. And Translator does not (to my knowledge) allow you to convert Fusion material to any other format.
