I'm looking for a delay plugin where the sound get degraded in bit depth more and more after each repeat (like on old digital delays, like on the LIne6 Echo Pro...).

I would like it to have tempo-sync, and basic settings (delay, feedback, why not some filters, etc) + one or 2 knobs/buttons to adjust the degradation (from 24 to 4 or 6 bits ? )...

I know the free kjaherus classic delay has nearly such a feature, but the feedback is too short obn this one

Would anybody know such an effect ?
(free or cheap, please... or payware, i'm curious to see if anything like that exists...)

[edit = I think Audio Damage had one in a fx pack, but i can't remember the name, and i am interested only in the delay efx...]

ohmboyz can do this quite nicely. there is a group buy on right now too!

*edit* actually its not a bit-depth, rather a distortion

Take a look at Bionic Delay. It's not so much a bit crusher since this plugin is an emulation of an old tape delay, but you can get some similar effects with the degrade and flutter parameters.

That actually doesn't sound like bitcrushing to me. It's just adding distortion, but if it were bitcrushing on each past by the end of the feedback tail there would be nothing left but noise. There are a few options for getting this kind of sound.

Here's a clip with one ping only going through first ArcDev's ET-200 and second Audio Damage's Dubstation to give you an idea what they sound like.

Dubstation is my favourite delay, but in this case, the ET-200 is actually a bit rougher sounding, might be better for your purpose.

There's also this one, had a very bit-crushery sound: when I demo'ed it

its Buzz module has a couple of delay types called "Broken Bit" and "Lo-Fi Digital"

There were some plugins made by students at the center for music & technology. One of them was CS Delay, which had bit crushing in the feedback chain. Probably exactly what you are looking for.

I agree. Trash's delay is often overlooked, but is really great.

Yes, Mayhem is the package, and TimeFnk is the delay effect. It is quite good. The whole package is quite good. I reviewed it in Recording Magazine a few years ago.
