You can install on both your desktop and your laptop provided that there is no possibility that somebody else will be running SONAR on your desktop while you're on your latop.
 :o

So my wife and I will both have to buy SONAR..... :hihi:

Well, we won't.
Very crass, zonder. One of the most important people in the software music industry takes time away from responding to questions on his company forum to grace us with his presence and answer questions for KVR users... something I never see others in his position bother to do.

And what do you do? You take the piss out of him and his product. Your mom must be very proud.

No, the policy isnt an issue here. Its quite clear there wouldnt even be the slightest possibility you'd be picking up Sonar, and that you're only doing your usual fanboyist trolling.

Kalamata Kid wrote:whyterrabbyt and D-Fusion,

Thanks for the good news that energyXT has been working fine in Sonar at least in the newer version.

Anyone please help me with this:
I am trying to see if Sonar 6 will serve my need more than Cubase SX3. I love midi fx and editing midi so if you could let me know and sorry for the repeat question but is there a midi editor similar to the Cubase Logical Editor, Transformer and Input Transformer. Not that I am happy with these but at least they do work. Midi editing was so flexible and simple in the good old Cadenza of yesteryear.

Also it would be nice to confirm that Cal still functional in Sonar 6?

BTW are the Cubase 3 included MFX proprietary or can the be used in Sonar 6?
This is always subjective. I have both, cubase and sonar and personally, I think that cubase is by far better for midi editing. Unfortunately, there is no info about improved midi editing in sonar 6, so I suppose it is the same as in sonar5.
You cannot split midi notes and you cannot mute them. Something, I use very much while working with midi.
Another thing: sonar doesn't show you different controller lanes for different midi controller, everything is shown in a single lane and this is just a mess after working on more than two different controllers. And you have to select the controler on which you want to work before you can edit it.
In cubase, you just open a new controller lane and work on the controllers you want. Fast and easy. You can even make presets and call the instantly.
I like sonar very much, but I cannot understand, why it is for cakewalk such a rocket science to improve midi and bring it to a level where cubase or logic is. I mean, they started as a midi sequencer. Is it really so difficult to put a split and a mute tool in the piano roll?
Not to mention, that you have to draw a lasso exactly arround midi events if you want to select them. In cubase (nuendo, logic) it is enough, if you just touch the notes with the lasso and they get selected. In sonar, you are zooming in and out all the time, to be able to see and draw a selection lasso arround the borders of a midi event or a clip in the arrange view.

Maybe Alex can bring some clarification.

Come on, headquest: the man is working for a company that has products to promote and sell. The fact that he is posting here simply means he's doing a good job.

If you prefer to act like some gracecul consumer and see Mr. Westner as "one of the most important people" etc., please do. That's exactly what companies prefer consumers to act like. Westner explained his company's policy on licenses, and I think that policy sucks completely. I pay my telephone company for having a connection and a telephone number, but I don't pay them three times the amount because of the number of telephones in my house that I share with my wife and kids.

Microsoft and other companies might have the same policy? Well, it only means software business sucks even more. The only justification for this 'policy' is commercial, financial greed.

And it was urock who immediately came up with REAPER, not I. Yes, I do think that its developer is a rare example of reasonable policy and pricing. Combine that with his qualities as developer, a communicator, a listener and a very hard worker, one could easily see a lot of reasons to consider Justin Frankel to be "one of the most important people in the software music industry" - although I would never come up with such a silly phrase.

Crap analogy. People dont buy telephones from the landline companies; they buy them from stores. But if you had two telelphone lines you'd pay double. If you had two mobile phones, you'd pay twice.

Anyways, you're still trolling. Go away.

I am going to update to Sonar 6 in the middle of this month when my paycheck arrives :D

Poor analogy mate... With three phones accessing only one line, the best you could do is listen in on your kids' conversations (if they beat you to the line first).

By your reasoning, I think it safe to assume that Cakewalk would not mind if you decided to hook up another monitor to your computer, just so that you could watch your wife working with Sonar.

Yeah right. The only reason someone would refuse to pay for an appropriate number of copies of software they say they need is personal, financial greed.

You mean that Alex Westner's post was completely off-topic? And therefore that he isn't doing such a good job after all?

Shame on you, whyterabbyt. Alex Westner is one of the most important....to grace us with his presence.....

I forgot some of you might have been pissed off by that 7 pages long discussion thread "REAPER posing a serious threat to Sonar?" over at Cakewalk's SONAR forum. I never thought about participating in that one, but another "most important person" etc., Greg Hendershott, did. And he wrote:

"I don't mind people talking about competitive products on our forums. Obviously it happens all the time here. But this thread is turning into discussing detailed feature wish lists for Reaper. Would you all mind taking this elsewhere? I'd appreciate that."

BTW I agree the telephone analogy wasn't right. But that doesn't dismiss an argument against software companies license policies. I think these are a serious issue for all of us.

You can use your copy of Reaper while she is running Sonar.
I think we both prefer REAPER anyway, but thanks for the suggestion.

Go Back to your Holy Reaper forum and stay there :tantrum:

No, your trolling over legitimate license conditions are off-topic. Like I specifically said. If its that hard for you to understand, I'll use smaller words next time.

Well I don't think that the Cakewalk forum was one of the ones on the list that you REAPER fans were told on your own forum to go and infiltrate, was it?

What is this? A paraphrase of some infamous racist sayings?

I'm not sure if Mr. Westner likes to see his gentle company associated with such an attitude, D-Fusion.

 Well the REAPER developer has publically distanced and disassociated himself from the behaviour of you REAPER fanboys on this forum, such is the embarassment your trolling has caused him!
