+1.

There's problems with this in Sonar 5.2 with the 64-bit mix mode engaged. It sounds very distorted as sounddesigner says.

Can also confirm:

Audition 2.0 - works fine (VST)
Audition 2.0 - works fine: DX version via Cakewalk wrapper.

EDIT - can also confirm that in SONAR 5.2:

Yes, it's fine if you switch to the 32-bit mix engine.

Also, in SONAR the plug opens with all faders all fully down instead of on zero. Strange. "Reset" corrects this. Little bugette?

that sucks to hear that --- thats one of the things i was attracted to about sonar was the 64 bit engine. perhaps its an issue with the plugin using double precision and not sonar?
check my profile for contact info.
msn messenger is my email as well.

Well, by way of an update, I dug up Tracktion 2 which also has 64-bit mixing math, and Overtone GEQ works fine in T2 as well.

So the problem is definitely linked/limited to Sonar's 64-bit summing engine...

By the way, using 41k sampling rate throughout all tests.

Hope this helps all, Aleksey 8)

In eXT it only exposes two input- and two output-channels... :?

Thanks for more of your comments! :)

This plug-in design is going to be a base for the future plug-ins. I do plan to update existing plug-ins as well: this may take a while, but some day you'll see existing plug-ins change their skin and features. :)

On bypass switch:
Bypass switch was mainly designed for evaluation of changes plug-in made.
Bypass switch will not conserve CPU resources when switched on.

About edit groups:
Edit group is the group you are now editing in the Graphic A or Graphic B.
Underlay group selects which group to display as blue underlay. Underlays
can be useful when editing two groups - to see how they differ from each
other.

Groups themselves can be attached to individual channels in the Channel
Routing box. For example, this allows you to have individual EQ settings for
channel 1 and 2. In surround setup you may assign left and right channels to
group 1, and surround channels to group 2 and edit them independently of
each other.

Sonar 5.2 'slider reset' problem confirmed - I will be trying to fix it. However, 64-bit audio mixing problem there is not what I can fix (I've rechecked my code and it seems to be Sonar's problem).

jens, you'll have to use energyXTE for multi IO.

Hard to say. Just a good sound with a bit of harmonic spices. :)

GEQ? :?

I realize it's not exactly a Kjaerhus trademark (that's GEQ7), but there's definitely potential for confusion there.

The new look is excellent, though (by the way, what font is that for the GUI?). And it's always great to have more quality free VST effects!

GEQ is simply 'Graphic EQ', in classical sense - EQ with fixed bands. As far as trademarks are concerned, Overtone GEQ is the full name of the plug-in, not just GEQ. Do a Google search on 'GEQ equalizer'.

Which UI font are you referring to?

Tracktion uses 64 bits for summing, but it only uses a 32 bit interface with VSTs (this is what VST 2.3 calls for). IIRC Sonar 5.2 implements VST 2.4, which allows for 64 bit output from VSTs.

Like I said, I know it's not a term only used by Kjaerhus. It's just that that plug is commonly abbreviated to GEQ on this forum, and your Overtone GEQ is being abbreviated the same way in this thread. Guess that's not really your fault though. Not a big deal anyway.

As far as fonts, I was wondering about the title and button fonts.

Good point - yes that's right.

Aleksey - thanks for confirming about the Sonar issues. Maybe the part they need to fix will be okay in Sonar 6 - let's hope!

Once again, lovely EQ - thanks!

Ah, probably, I've misinterpreted VST 2.4 spec (and its setProcessPrecision call). Maybe I can fix this after all (but this is ugly as VST 2.4 already has processDoubleReplacing() function for exactly 64-bit float processing).
