Hi folks,
I hope there's one or two Roland SH-32 owner's here!

I've just tried a Roland SH-32 that I brought of Ebay and I can't get it to work (play) for the life of me.
Midi impletation seems fine running through cubase, and I can hear the demo being played no problem, all the pretty lights are also flashing ok yet when I go to play I just get nothing.
I never got a manual with it, so that may explain a few things. Ive tried dabbling with the midi channel settings with no luck.
Can anyone help me on this?
Cheers.

I never had that problem. Check midi channel, remote on if you're using multiple channels, midi thru if needs be.

Rule No.1 of Buying Used Synths; Hard reset (after a cursory flip through the previous owners patches.

Rule No.2 of Buying Used Synths; Download the manual (even if you have a hard copy.)

Just my $0.02.

Even better: read the manual BEFORE buying anything!

(and without the manual it's hard to figure out how to restore all factory settings)

Thanks everyone for their replies. I got her working now! Looks like the user manual is essencial for this little beast after all!

Late for the party but I have a Roland SH-32 question as I'm thinking of buying one.

I read that the filter cutoff "steps" as opposed to turning smoothly. Is this correct?
If you can't dazzle 'em with brilliance, baffle 'em with bullshit.

I never owned one, but given the vintage: I would not be surprised.

Perhaps it is smooth when modulated but steppy when you twist the knob.

I sold mine, but I remember normal smooth filters, at least not hard stepped totally.
