Ah, that's so much better... with the garish blue and the bright-yellow-on-blue text (in constantly different font styles) it all just comes together. :tu:

hmmm, maybe a little bit....

umm....
maybe its just all that stuff everywhere... perhaps if there was an actual workspace someone would actually use... like just some tracks laid out, i dunno...it just loooks like a total mess from here.

I have to say tho, im intrigued... to me, its like everyone has always made SAW out to be like the scientology of audio hosts...

lets see what it can do!!! Lets see some workspaces!!!

Sawstudio probably IS a fine host, but I don't understand how at $2500 a pop they can't hire someone to take care of the usability/presentation a little bit.

As it is, a glance at the layout is like one of those "Magic Eye" pictures. Maybe after you stare at it for a while something useful comes out in 3D.

I remember some sort of weird wood or brick detail that was VERY distracting to the eye hehe...

*although with increased skinnability, REAPER is looking much better these days
Jason this is how my SawStudio looks.

I like it this way.

I do use and own Saw and Protools, both have their strength, and as a studio app, both are great.
I think Reaper is great in this department too, and it has been my main app the last month or so.
The funny thing about Saw, is that Bob who creates it, uses it himself, and you have to work like he does, but if you do, it's really fast i think.
The main problem in most hosts IMHO, is that you have to make everyone happy, so you end up with 1000 ways to do everything, and the program gets bloated with functions everywhere.
And i think this is the main advantage with PT, Saw and also Reason, they have their focus in one thing. They may not be the best for every thing, but they work as intented.
So when working fulltime in these apps, it becomes different things that gets important.
It's much more important how you edit a clip with one shortcut, or how you adjust a fader (here reaper really shines IMO), than having some feature you'd use once in a week.

I used to work alot in samplitude too, this program can do everything, you just have to spend an hour to find the feature. IMO. Maybe things have been focused more in the later versions, but as i remembered, there we're so many settings all over the program, in different windows. And so many things that didn't work excatly as supposed.

So now i catually like to export the file to a burning app.
And i like being limited in some ways in a program, if that means, that i know where to find stuff, and i know that when i use it, it works.

ozzlon, those screens look much better, for sure.

... but to me its still a bit confusing (i prefer something much more simple). But hey, if it works for you, then cool :)

.
I think there is a similar thing with REAPER. Justin uses the software himself, and codes in stuff his way --- there are certain things he WONT do, like mouse modes for instance...

Hmm, I have a sudden and insurmountable craving for bubble gum suddenly, can't explain why.
No, that wasn't me.

Yes, but i think jason is very good at balancing this. IMO ofcause.
I think a host needs a direction otherwise it ends up being a messy crappy bloated app.
And if you can do a thing in an app fast, you don't need 5 other ways to do it.

Use the Function keys (F1-F12).

Well, people use it and love it, so it's obviously not as bad as we think it is. I think nexuscreative hit it when he pointed out that it's just so drastically different from standard workflows that it is almost incomprehensible to most of us. I don't buy the whole "it sounds like a desk" thing, but everyone's convinced their host sounds better, so whatever.

KleVeR: That's MUCH better. Looks very clean.

I think it's the insane amount of gradient-shaded panels in the default that makes it look so heptic.

Yeah, it's the only one I've found so far that looks usable.
You can find the shade @

It's called Milano (pipenite_Milano_v02).
