What's your point, Lance?

Actually, you can buy SAWStudio Pro for $2000US if you buy it from an affiliate. Look for a guy named Microstudio. If you do not have $2000 US handy, then you can pay monthly, without the $500 US discount. Bob charges a $250 US fee for this, but all you have to do is shell out $200 US, and then $100 US per month for 2yrs.

Still remains $2485. :P

Is it so hard for a company, which ask $2500 for their app, to please their customers with a decent/usable default GUI? I wouldn't/couldn't use SAWStudio even if it would be free, sorry and no offence, I respect others and their choices too.

That's a Samplitude V8SE screenshot, which came with mags [KEYS, CM] for not more than $15.

They call them shades, have a look:

olzzon, thanks for the input; it was getting tiresome listening to all the basement kids dissing an app they will never see, because they aren't doing this stuff for a living.

Sorta like listening to Civic drivers dissing the dash of a Freightliner.

Samplitude v8 SE is way cool at $15 (or even the $22 we pay for CM in Canada)... are you suggesting it's somehow equivalent to SAWSTUDIO?

The discussion was talking about the Saw Studio gui, and he seemed to post that Samp. pic as an example of a more functional, toned down gui. Gui functionality and appearance was what he was referring to, not the feature set and it's useability.

Correct me if I'm wrong...

You're right, Improv. But otherwise these apps are also competitors of each other.

heh heh heh.

That's a little bit far-fetched. Sequoia might be a competitor to SAWSTUDIO, but not Samplitude. Isn't Sequoia about $3000? yup... http://site.magix.net/english-us/home/p ... equoia-v8/

Also, I've used SAWPRO, have briefly tried the SAWSTUDIO demo, I have the CM Samplitude v8 SE...

Does Samplitude have a "more functional, toned down gui"? Toned-down, maybe, when compared to some of the more garish SAWSTUDIO colour schemes maybe, but it's NOT more functional. No way. Samp's got almost as many buttons as AutoCAD, yeesh... (but I don't yet HATE Samplitude. I think I could get work done in it)

To anyone who's actually more interested in trying something than just ragging on about a couple screenshots and a price tag, I sincerely recommend you download the SAWSTUDIO demo, watch some of the videos, do the tutorials. Even if it doesn't fit your style, you'll learn alot more about the possibilities in these systems.

Samplitude and SAW are competitors for sure.

Sequioa has video support and some really excellent audio cleaning plugins, there really isnt that big of a difference.

I would say samplitude is the direct competitor of SAW.

I would think Samplitude would be considered a "competitor" to SAW, or Nuendo, or Logic, etc. It's a full-featured sequencer, the only difference with Sequoia is some mastering/post features; you sure you're not thinking of Magix Music Studio?

It seems to me that Bob L probably doesn't want the population of Cubase.net moving into his support forum, which is what putting the price down would do. I could understand that. I think SAW is a great app, I demoed it a few years back and it wasn't worth the money to me.

I think there is a niche in which Bob will sell more than enough copies to keep his business growing at the price point he's chosen - and it does look like the business is solid. It isn't right for everyone.

just to remove myself from the "Basement kid" category, I did all of this, and researched the program thouroughly, and then also saw it in action in a studio.

To me, it is ultra nonsensical.

but hey, if it works for you!

One of the greatest advantages of SAW is the price IMO.
I think it's competing with Reaper, Protools, Samplitude,Nuendo.
BUT.
It has a pricerange which exclude the wheeeeeeners.
and that is NICE.
i do prefer reaper, though.
And one of the only thing i miss in repaer is, a forum where it's not discussed whether it's better to use the left button, or alt+right button to mark an area.
But on the other hand, i ike reaper for being a place where everything is allowed to be discussed.
So i better just shut up. :)
