no doubt! blockfish can do the "nuke" thing pretty well. :D

Endorphin is probably my favorite free mastering tool.

Luurve...

No expert on this manner of malarky mind. Blockfish for me has the bonus of those presets, 'rhythm geetar', indeed. Twiddle about a little with the level control, does what it says. Too many shite indie rokk songs to write without worrying about maths and the like. Instant gratification, what the kids are arfter.

We said that all the digitafishphones plugs have this limiter. It's true too.

Mjcompressor is quite the brilliant freebie. It has no gui, takes some practise to get good sound of, but consider it the secret weapon of the month.

Don't let it's utilitarian looks (ie. no gui) fool you.
Oh dont worry. I used xhipeffects compressor a lot now and it has no gui either, but works really efficiently and is really good for drums and general use. The Mjcompressor uses some sort of frequencey analysis to effect the settings on the compressor right? Ive used buzcompressors too like grancomp and stuff but I kind of dont like them anymore. I need to try Gvst's multiband compressor too.

We can only guess. Rest assured it's magnus quality, as you might be aware of from nyquistEQ. One important thing to note is the fact that it uses quite a bit of CPU in comparison to awfully many compressors, commercial or otherwise. Knowing what a DSP wiz magnus is one can venture to guess this is for a good reason.

I wouldn't mind having a clue of what goes on under the hood. :hyper:

No, it is not.
Sascha Eversmeier wrote:So no 'limiter' on the very output.

Let me just throw in here... the output stage is just a saturator. Neither is it level-dependent nor does it introduce any envelope processing. Just clipping in a relatively soft way.
'saturation on low levels' is only true if you consider saturation as a whole level-dependent: it only takes place on loud signals as the in-out curve is nonlinear and squashes the more things get closer to 0dBFS.
The 'main' saturation stage in blockfish & andorphin is partly level-dependent. The signal shifts the bias point (adjustable with blockfish) and saturation changes therefore.

So no 'limiter' on the very output. Also not with endorphin. I read such assumptions a few times, utters being multiplied, and that makes me grin... those folks, use your ears and don't believe everything they say on the net
If you are not familiar with the name, Mr Eversmeier is the man who made the plugins.

yes, as much as i love blockfish, but it's just too limited in controls for finding solutions for many signals ...
if sasha only would update it, just adding attack and release-controls, and maybe the curves for these to be editable ... that would be the bomb for sure ... i'd pay for it ...

Is there anywhere we can get these nowadays?
