Wondering if there is a plugin/app that allows me to convert WAV files to IMP (impluse) format (vice versa).. I need to create a convolution reverb based on pre existing reverb within a WAV file... A tool like this would come in handy for me..

Thanks for any help/info..

Impulses ARE wavs... Which convolver wants imps only and can't digest wav?

I use the convolution reverb in Adobe Audition 2.. It uses IMP files.. The process of creating impulses from wav files is teadeous and does not always have the desired effect.. This is why I'm looking for a 3rd party app or plugin to do the work for me..

Maybe you'd better use a free convultion VST effect like SIR: http://www.kvraudio.com/get/736.html

BertKoor.. thanks, I have SIR.. The problem is not the convolution effect itself. Ok this is my situation.. I have several live recordings that have excelent room and or reverberation already.. I need to get this reverb out of the audio and then use it on other recordings.. In AA2 I have to use either center channel extraction/panning/stereo widening etc to get the main audio out and leave only the reverb portion. As I've stated, this does not always work and gives random outcomes.. I found Voxengo Deconvolver but I'm not sure that it creates and .IMP for use in AA2.. Anyhow I figure this must be a fairly complex process if AA2 does not do it properly.. I will keep lookin..

Found this somewhere else (be I Google or what!? ;)
Q: how do i convert my (wav. files into imp. files) so that i can start to use the convolusion effect ???

A: Edit View: Effects>>Special>>Convolution
Use Add Sel. button.
Save the .imp file.
but I think you must have a selection that resembles a reverb impulse.

Isn't there a tick in it somewhere with some reverb? The drummer counting off by hitting his sticks?
