I've always found this a fascinating subject ever since I discovered it using a very early edition of Acid. Creating harmonies from from one voice got me hooked.

I have noticed recently, that it is now very topical with improved versions coming to several DAWs.

Sonar 6 will include Izotope's Radius, EnergyXT will apparently feature some commercial algorithm and now I note that there is talk about Tracktion getting some (much needed) improvemnet.

I personnaly have found that Ableton Live's implementation of Z-Plane Elastique is the best all rounder. It's real time and a joy to use and so much better than in FL Studio.

The best I have ever heard is Melodyne, but for me it is far too expensive and the interface belies its brilliance. It would be great if the algorithm was released and used in a DAW !

As processors get faster/more powerful, timestretching and pitch shifting in real time should get even better so it will be something to look forward to

Cheers

Radius is in my view better than Melodyne but that's my own view ;).

For the upcoming Cubase 4, an algorithm as powerful or better thant he DIRAC (used in Wavelab 6) is going to be used with an improved workflow on the AudioWarp fonction (same as AudioSnap in Sonar 6).

And with the recently announced X-Form for Pro Tools, I'm really interested about theses functions too.

Good news about your opinion on Radius, I was planning on getting Sonar 6 PE

Thanks
