Kjaerhus MPL-1 Final Mixdown Question

People...

I'm working on the last song on my CD, in a WaveLab multitrack project (a Montage)...& the MPL-1 is the only f_ck_n' limiter that sounds good on this particular composition. AAMOF...it sounds so much better than the competition it's not funny. The MPL-1 is across the Dither Block, which is the last stage in WaveLab's Master Section.

Question...I have it set up on 16-Bit, w/ Dither checked. The Montage contains 11 24-Bit tracks; & of course WaveLab's internal mix engine runs @ 32-Bit float.

Am I hearing what this song is going to sound like as a 16-Bit master when rendered...i.e., the MPL-1 is only outputting a 16-Bit dithered signal to the sound card ???

If that's the case...I'm a happy man...'cause I really like what I'm hearing !!!

Now...back to that question for a second. If that is the case, do the renders from this plug-in sound just like the playback?

BTW - What type of dither does the MPL-1 employ...sounds sweet.

About the Dithering in the MPL-1 (from the manual):

The MPL-1 uses TPDF-Dithering (Triangular Probability Density Function) which is
the "classic" dithering method. The signal level of this dithering is only +/-1 LSB
peak-to-peak; lower than any other dithering. TPDF-Dithering does not alter the
tonal balance of the audio-material and contrary to most noise-shaped dithering,
TPDF-dithered material can be processed afterwards without getting an unpleasant
surprise in the form of a loud noise floor in the processed material.

And yes you hear what it sounds like after the dithering...
Set it to 8 bit and you'll know that you are listening to
the dithered output.

I tried the demo of the MPL-1, and curiously even with the dither button on, Wavelabs bit depth meter still showed 32-bit output, I don't know if this is a bug or not.

I didn't like the sound of it either I'm afraid, it pumps too much in an awkward fashion unless the release is set very high. It just doesn't compare to the likes of the L2 and Elephant for me.

A shame, I was expecting a lot given the excellent quality of their Gold Plugs.

I agree, the MPL-1 realy is amazing! For vocals, I did not find anything better to date. Waves Rvox for example makes the vocal distort a little bit in the high frequencies. Once I replaced it with the MPL-1, the high distortion whas gone and a smooth vocal whas born!
