iused to have a MWII but i never could get the Sound Diver software to work..
The SoundTower editor is much better than Sound Diver ever was.

:dog: now he tells me!

seriously, i never knew there was another editor...Sound Diver f**king blew....i couldn't get it to work on my Kawai XD-5 either, and if any two synths needed an editor it was the XD-5 and the MWII...if i knew there was another option for the MWII i probably would have held on to it...great filters, better than Kubik imo....but Kubik is a blast, curious how the Sound Tower/MWWII combo would be compaired to Kubik (probably shouldn't even think about it :hihi:)

Well, I'm sure you've prolly already seen Professor Solida's monster-modular: :D
(though he's since moved into a new home, so I'm sure some photos of the beastie in his new studio are coming soon).

Heh, at the risk of being ever-so-slighty over shadowed by that monster...

Indeed it is. And its fantastic IMO. Relatively easy to program, feels really solid, no obvious latency as far as the controlling or the things following finger movements. Also because it works over LAN it can be used to control multiple computers which is the plan eventually.Become an integral part of my workflow. I'm only really using it as a MIDI controller though as i don't use anything that uses OSC.
The template in those pictures is for controlling Live and i have some others for Stylus and the V-Synth. I'm also building on for the Micro-X i'm getting and thinking about getting one for absynth but i'm not sure how easy that will be...

Yesterday I spent the time resurrecting my EML 200 modular which was was practially buried at the very bottom of a stack of shelfs I had created for some of my other modules and atari stuff. Of course it was at the very bottom, and took me a while to get it out and installed in its new location on top of my Receptor RackBox by the main DAW.

I had a blast patching it up doing all kinds of Mod sounds and none of it ever repeated itself. I also had it going thru receptor so I can use filters and delays on it(as the EML does not have resonant filters..It has a low pass and High pass Frq only.but still sound good.) I even had rainforst enviorments going. It has a unique module called the electronic switch, where you can aternate between two types of sounds..so had two ocillators with different mods going into it.

The only problem with it is that I think there is a ground humm which causes the oscillators to sound very nasal and grainny, and not a pure tone.( like its modulating the ground hum) However, for mod effects, it works fine. There is a synth repair place near me, and hope to get it fixed eventually. I used to have it hooked up to my CS5, and it tracked well, but due to this issue, it does not work very well as far as melodic material is concerned.

Anyway..Glad to have my EML Back!! The Blue Meanie!! I still have the original reciept and my patch book from 1977!!

Guess this got buried as far as a modular pic. Not as big as Scotts, this unit was actually used in schools to help students learn the fundamentals of synthesis. However, it seems to have it's own sound and quarkiness. I remeber this one guy bringing two of these to concerts, and he would be patching it up as he went along. You can get very raw sounds, but I have been putting it into effects as well..and getting nice textures. Some unique modules is the envelope, which has an auto mode on it, like the VSC3, so you can get ryms, and weird mod effects from tweaking the knobs. Its also a combination Ring Modulator and Amptitude Modulator. There is also another seperate ring modulator, as well as the electronic switch, which I have not seen duplicated in software yet..although I think the arp 200V ( Arturia) has something like it. The reverb is also not bad. I remember banging the case to get explosion sounds :-) Still have to fix that ground loop issue.

We went to see a demo of Lemur at Musikmesse last year in an art gallery in Frankfurt, it was very cool, several people with Lemurs standing round a table in an empty white room with massive speakers making weird ambient music , very weird 8) the only thing I can remember clearly was having a strange conversation with the Ohmie GUI guy about drawing cheese...
