First off, I just got a reply from CM Magazine and learned that they already did a news item on the KVR Developer Challenge on their upcoming issue.
Actually the editor said it was this issue. So I don't know if it's out yet, but if any subscribers see it on the current issue, please let me know.

Wicked!.. But.. depending on the size of the actual entries. Couldn't they feature all the entries in the compo?

That would be cool, but I wonder if it would be a hassle for them to get permission etc from all the different devs. Whereas just clearing it with the winner is a lot easier.Majken wrote:Wicked!.. But.. depending on the size of the actual entries. Couldn't they feature all the entries in the compo?

Well being in the magazine business "the next issue" is always a bit vague since you always plan ahead and work on new stuff way before an older issue hits the stores.
So there's likely gonna be an issue mentioning the competition in late september and one with the plugins in late october.

yeah, i think it's going to be on the one that's gonna come out next.
anyway, a little bump for this thread because i don't know how to reply to the CM Magazine's editor.
should i just tell him, "i'll clear it with the winner as soon as the results are in"? should i ask for more entries to be on the dvd? i think it's great advertising for you guys.

In general, I have nothing against but the conditions have to be set upfront.
Those magazines build up their content from free stuff,
and this plug-in/program list will be huge.
Condition number one should be:
All plugin/programs must be listed in the same magazine,
with a short description and a link to the developer.
Condition number 2:
Permission will be only given for one edition of the magazine/CD.
I think those things must be cleared at the beginning.
Any other thoughts?
Cheers
René

It's in the current (as in "only just come out to UK-based subscribers") issue of CM (issue 105 I think).
I was impressed that the news item started with "You probably all know about KvR..." (or something like that - don't have it in front of me at the moment.
Regards,
Derek.

I just got CM105 (english edition) and it has a news item on the dev challenge. afaik the entries themselves should appear on the next english issue, so that's 2 spanish issues down the line (the spanish version has a 1-2 month delay on the articles and cd contents).wikter wrote:wooo!!! Wikter, I'd definitely look for the english edition of CM, it's a way better magazine than the spanish edition and it's pretty easy to find in barcelona (i.e. kioskos de las ramblas). I started getting it a few months ago and I've never looked back
The mind boggles.
