Very long (10-20 minute) automatic perimeter changes

What I'm looking for (in software hopefully) is something that slowly changes a perimeter (or set of perimeters) over very long lengths automatically. Like modulating a filter with a sine wave, but have the sine wave have a period of 10 minutes.

Anyone know of something that'll do that? A VST? Reaktor .ens? I think that would be a really cool way to produce an interesting effect like the ah ah ah ah loop in Laurie Anderson's Oh Superman or that Steve Reich "It's gonna rain" effect.

What host(s) do you have available? And is there any particular reason VST automation doesn't work?

It's hard to think of something that WON'T do it - except for the fact that many synth & FX LFOs don't go slow enough. You might be better off drawing curves in VST automation.

You can do this in any host that lets you record long automation curves and not just short patterns. Try AudioMulch, REAPER, Live, eXT, Cubase, Sonar, Vegas, ProTools, etc..

Most pattern-based things (Buzz, Fruity, Psycle, etc.) have LFOs that will do this sort of job directly, though they may not go slowly enough either. You could patch something in Tassman, SynthEdit, StudioFactory, or any other modular host.

So - pick a host, pick a loop, pick an FX plugin, pick a parameter, and go.

Or - someone else will probably name 20 VST plugins designed to do just that...

Ah, sorry for the typo wiseass! But I hadn't considered VST automation but that may be perfect. I've started using live as my main host on my laptop, but there is also a G5 running Digital Performer that would do the job nicely.
