So it's not cheap at all.
Maybe if it is that good I will consider buying it at 299 but not at its "full" price.
I'll post my impressions it soon.
haha, 600 euro?? they're f**king nuts. I could get a fine hardware eq for that.

Snooky is dead on right. For 600 Europes (sic) it should be hardware, keep your
studio warm in the winter with the gentle glow of premium 12AX7s and have Rupert
Neve's autograph on the top of it...right next to George Massenburg's.

Hmm.. I'm not that impressed with this EQ. Doesn't sound any superior to Electri-Q IMHO and definately not as good as the algorithmix (though they are completely different as it's linear phase). I also think the PLPar EQ in minimum phase mode is superior to this one and it can also do separate, flexible, mid/side processing. Actually, ANY eq plugin can be easily put into a mid/side matrix with the Voxengo MSED plugin combined with a modular host (like EnergyXT).

The GUI is much too large too for me..

600 euros? Naah, I'll pass.

Cheers!

Holy jeez, yeah; that's Euros, not dollars! :-o

I wonder: can hardware do all the same things? The M/S processing? There must be a reason to price it that high!

Post

Hi bmaniac,
how do you find it, soundwise, compared to the AirEq?
I'll test it myself later tonight, but I'm curious about your oppinion on this.

uhh!for that money it's not really a christmasgift
i think i gonna stand by posihfopit too.

I'm sure the hardware is very nice, and probably very expensive if it has transformers and discrete components etc.

However, the plugin is not IMHO anything special sound wise.

OMU: I can't really compare it to AirEQ as I do not own it. I do have the old demo and the sounds are quite a bit different. Both have a tiny amount of transient "killing" so neither is 'super-high-end' like the algortihmix, but then again, neither is linear phase either so this might be the main reason.

I found it much easier to achieve wanted results with AirEQ. It could be the clever way AirEQ works with the Q versus gain (perceived loudness is constant). I don't know.. I don't have enough experience with either.

The unfortunate thing for developers (fortunate for us!) is that Christian Buddes Electri-Q and Magnus of Smartelectronix, Nyquist EQ are so good that it's very hard to justify expensive EQ plugins now.

Ditto on the large screen GUI.

Though very attractive, at 1024 x 768 pixels, it takes up the whole screen. I guess this is good for Monitors sized 20" and above for, it won't fit on my 17" monitor.

Anyone knows how to resize it?

Nope, sorry. I assume you probably don't want to spend over $700 on it, though, right? :D

bmanic, I agree. It doens't sound that good, even compared to other freebies and affordables. I can only assume they're going after the Roger Nichols crowd, that doesn't know any better.

Thanks for the reply, bmaniac.
I'm on mac, so none of these eqs are available for me.
But I really like AirEQ, and I'll purchase it, together with Neon HR. These two should cover quite a few tasks.
Can't wait for Angeltone to be released as it sounds very good.

this one should be tossed in the same group as Nyquist and AirEQ/Posihfopit

bmanic, I agree with you on the Nyquist EQ. I still find myself going back to that plug in time and time again.
When I had a four track I wrote music ... now I just play with plugins.

I'm pretty sure that purchase is far superior so go for it. Can't really go wrong with PSP high end plugins. Actually, I'm a bit jealous! :)

How does that IIEQ stack up in the Nyquist department, Oh Holy Audio Geeks?
