The Sonalksis EQ imparts subtle non-linearities while no EQ gain is used, it's simply enough to keep them switched on. See the link to the sonalksis forum that I posted earlier in the thread.

Yeah, I been following the thread. I thought you meant with gain. Got it, got it.

Now I'm getting curious if the new Sonalksis Free-G fader plugin will have a sound to it similar to this?

Huh? New sonalksis plug on the way? :)

EDIT: aah, yes, I see it now.

Cheers!

This looks really smart, mate !

Post

It looks pretty cool, and I think it might be pretty useful with multiple types of metering and phase invert. I mean, for something that basically just adjusts volume it's going to be pretty cool.

Do they have a picture of it? I didn't see it on the blog.

No picture yet, but they mentioned that they probably would this week. I hope it's got the same style as TBK which I think is awesome looking.

Dave also mentioned he would be dropping some news about TBK2 soon as well which sounds cool.

TBK2? Great. I hope that includes a price reduction. I mean, I can see the price tags for their other stuff (and don't get me wrong, I love the TBK GUI also, easiest-to-use filter plug out there) but $200 USD for something that simple...it was dissapointing, the price tag.

Post

I agree.. both the price tag and sound going with the price tag. I mean, they completely ignored the fact that both Frantic filter bank and FabFilter Volcano go for much cheaper and, IMHO, sound superior not to mention are much more flexible! Lets see if they can get it right with TBK 2.

Cheers!

Totally agree. I found the sound of TBK did not live up to their name/price tag. Considering you can get Little Frantic for €49.95 and Volcano for $139...come on!!! Looking forward to new products from these guys. Funny, because they've been coming up a lot more lately, just as I rediscovered their EQ and compressor after a couple years of neglect.

Post

I really like the sound of TBK, but i missed having continuously adjustable resonance, its a shame, as otherwise it would have been my goto filter, I hope they upadte it. Anyway, here's a link with TBK2 news, not what we were expecting

Yeah - that teeny-tiny resonance switch is another losing proposition of the TBK.

Hmmm...TBK2 is looking like a snoregasm.

Post

What a suprise, I thoguht TBK2 was TBK v2.0, but it's actually a completely different product.

I think it's on the same concept of the TBK filter, small tool for a specific job and will fit nicely with their "Creative Elements" category.

I'm actually looking foward to checking it out. The original TBK knob is better though :hihi:

Yeah, I see "bitcrusher" and I start nodding off - aren't there enough of those!?! I'm sure theirs will sound good, though.

I have to admit I like Dave's description:
It's a combination of clipper, downsampler and bitcrusher, all blended together in our own inimitable style, to give you as much filth for your mouse movement as possible!
I'm into it. It's got a LP filter built into it as well. I think it'll be a nice tool, even though there are other things out there doing the same thing I'm sure Sonalksis will do a great job on this one.
