Quite enjoying this, smooth sounds

One thing though I'm hearing is how the bassline is muddying big time with the darkish pads, and the repetition of it (more staying in the same key) gets a bit too much after time

I would characterize this: http://www.dharmasound.com/cd.asp?id=25 (see track 5 "confinedspace") as trippy and downbeat.

Tell me, have you ever been experienced?
Cuz a damned lot of music is made by avowed psychonauts and we bring back the sounds from that universe to this.

Whereas you track, which I would describe as "laid back" and "for stoners" has a very different sound from "trippy" ;)

As a matter of fact I would describe one of you major themes, and one I usually enjoy from you, is a complete lack of ominousness.

I think your song is "dub" judging from the bassline.
Very nice.

Hi Mark,

howdya doing?

thx for listening, well the mix could be a bit better I think,
but I like the "boring" bassline ;-)

runagate

thx for your comment.

yes I'm experienced, maybe not too much
and I'm not so sure about genres in music
thats why I asked,

but I understand your comment about the dubby-stoney feel of the track.

sounds nice, tho I'm not really sure if I get what you meant ;-)

Well, you know... ominous.
Like foreboding.
Or mind-rending, like vurt's.

Yours don't strike me as relating impending doom.
You're great at making non-scary and yet not at all cloying sonic emotion.

thanks for clearing this

I take it as a compliment ;-)

Yesterday I walked by two big Samoan guys. One with a big Afro said, "Ganja?" when I passed him. I said, "not today man." With this song, the answer would have changed.
