for live use i wouldn't dare to do that cause beatcounter probramms are never fail prove and as soon as it got the wrong tempo everything runs out of control if you link it to your host. think it be way easier for your drummer to keep to the machine...

Take global quantize off. Start to record a loop right at teh begining of a bar. 4 bars later stop the recording right at the end of a bar. Turn warp off for the clip. Make sure begining and end are on teh beat and the origininal tempo box will tell you the tempo. :)
What I do however is to map the tap box to t my "/" key and tap for about 30 seconds or so. Then I stop, pot the chan up and press teh space bar on a down beat. If it strats to drift a little I start pressing teh "/" key on the beat 4 taps at a time.

Ah, I use this tip a lot...it's really useful

BTW on stage I think the best is to have the tap tempo mapped on an external midi controller pad. When tempo drifts, some taps can fix it. :P
