So... who's interested, aside from me?Eliosound wrote:Maybe a KVR group buy would be a good solution to get AirEQ with a reduced price.. If some people are interested here, obviously.

Perhaps if the terms of the group buy and the relative savings to number of people was posted up, it might drum up some more interestpolyslax wrote:Wow, ok, I'll take that as a big NO!

Sorry for the late reply, these times are very busy..
I'm not very familiar with group buys here, but I think I have to post the conditions in the market place in KVR forums. I'll do in the very next days, trust me !
Please let me know in PM is someone have particular advices about group buys, from other experiences here, etc..

The way I see Group Buys, is they allow you to get a big installation of users (which help you improve your product and spread the word), and a nice amount of sales, but they sometimes can lower the percieved value of your product if you go too crazy and do it too often.
I say go for it when you launch a new product, or after interest is starting to wear thin (towards the end of a 1.x lifecycle but a little ways before a 2.x).
This might be a good time for you, especially if you have to change your company name. You could launch the group buy as a "new company name celebration sale" or something similar.

I agree. Dongle = No Sale.Sascha Franck wrote:You should rethink the dongle decision.
There's no way I'd ever get a dongled EQ. And there's a whole lot of folks thinking the same.

Yes I think that a group buy is mainly interesting for a product launch, and that it is a great opportunity for some customers who mainly getting information on the internet.smart wrote:The way I see Group Buys, is they allow you to get a big installation of users (which help you improve your product and spread the word), and a nice amount of sales, but they sometimes can lower the percieved value of your product if you go too crazy and do it too often.

That is why it seems to be a good period to do this for AirEQ, and I think that a single group buy per product is also a good choice.
I hope and I think that we will not have to change our company name..smart wrote:This might be a good time for you, especially if you have to change your company name. You could launch the group buy as a "new company name celebration sale" or something similar.
Anyway, we could name this group buy : "AES group buy", for the AES convention in early October in San Francisco..
So this will be the only one for AirEQ and we'll launch it in a few days.
I'll post the conditions very soon, keep reading this thread !

If you're after a reference point, look at the group buy spec on this ohmboyz one:Eliosound wrote:Yes I think that a group buy is mainly interesting for a product launch, and that it is a great opportunity for some customers who mainly getting information on the internet.smart wrote:The way I see Group Buys, is they allow you to get a big installation of users (which help you improve your product and spread the word), and a nice amount of sales, but they sometimes can lower the percieved value of your product if you go too crazy and do it too often.

I would have been very interested in this plugin, especially if there was a good price available via a group buy (the review I read in Future Music was very positive too)...unfortunately, the dongle kills it for me, as my computer is a dongle-free zone and shall remain so.Teksonik wrote:I agree. Can someone explain to me why dongles are a bad thing?. You plug it in, keep it there and it works.
Cubase SX3 works fine. I can pull the dongle out and plug it into a laptop if i want. Where's the prob?
The worst of the copy protections I think are the ones you have to re-authorize over the internet from time to time, cause if the sites down or you're not on the internet you're screwed. with a dongle with activation code on it, thats not an issue.
I've never had a problem with my dongle soo, I don't understand the animosity some people have against it.
It could be argued too much development cost is wasted implementing a dongle, fair enough, but once the products made and assuming everyone agrees its a fair price for the quality of the product, seriously whats the problem?!?
