Well, seeing as it's affecting all softsynths, but not hardware modules it seems to me that it's a problem with the way Sonar is configured. The behaviour described sounds VERY strange to me, like there's some inforrect MIDI data formatting or something. Maybe there's some MIDI intepreting software running as well (perhaps like that for controlling orchestral software)? Sorry I don't have a clear answer, it's just too weird.
