Impact runagate demo A

Impact runagate demo B

Impact runagate demo C

Ironhead + Metallurgy runagate demo D

runagate Ironhead Orca Metallurgy BueCatFx Grainz Narcissus+Echo Run-a-dub-dub

Glad you liked, Highkoo.
The effect chain is these VSTi into these Fx:

Ironhead > Metallurgy and a tiny bit o'verb
Orca > BlueCat Flanger > Narcissus+Echo > BlueCat Chorus
Grainz > BlueCat Chorus > Run-A-Dub-Dub

Course, there's automation on the Run-A-Dub and Narcissus.

The filter cutoff on the Narcissus is automated, plus Narcissus's own filters and delays are modulated by the envelope of whatever goes into it, as well as the zero-crossing frequency so that's why Orca is all whacko, that and severe Blue Cat settings.

The Grainz VSTi also has it's own weird velocity and keytracking filter and delay modulation, plus Run-A-Dub-Dub's own time and feedback modulations.

The Metallurgy goes make some really great sounds come out of Ironhead, though, because they are siblings I think they get along together well. Course, really odd multiband compressor settings help that out since there's a LOT of enveloping filters, seq filters, modulated bitcrushing and sequenced "metalizer" combfeedback going on with Metallurgy.

Glad you like. I still can't believe how huge and evil kicks are from Ironhead into Metallurgy. Too bad FL can't deal with the multiple outputs that Ironhead gives you (let alone my poor PC) or I'd effect the individual drums separately.

Course, I could render each drum separately and then deal with it that way but even I don't have the patience for that without my mulitracker working; this is the first time I've bounced tracks in FL and then re-effected them. I do it all the time in a multitracker but it's a pain in FL since the audio clips in the playlist can't be muted for some insane reason.

That makes me think I'd like to hear your music :-o

Hmm I've only made 13 demos for Impact so far.
I haven't exactly depleted my desire to make more yet, either.

That's a good sign, right?

Have you been able to create any preset banks? If, as a sound designer, you would pass around some of those roll-your-owns...roll-your-owns?...
Anyway, I think it would be pretty groovy to have a bank (or two :) ) from runagate for Ironhead.

Post

I was one of the sound designers for Ironhead's preset bank.

Certainly I'll make more for you, by jumping into my projects and saving them out now that Ugo taught me how to make a bank in FL with the presets named correctly and all hehe.

I must emphasize, however, that my presets were made expressedly for the most strange, warped-out, not-really-a-drum-machine possibilities of Ironhead.

With uncountable possibilities in settings between all the drums and all the drum parameters and the delay, and delay-per-drum, plus the morph LFOing between 2 entirely different states per drum it's pretty easy to get straight drum sounds but time-consuming to get bizarre esoterica. Luckily I like the latter.

Shit, I think just the cymbals alone are worth having Ironhead. Crazy how the x-y for attack morphs between the A/B, even crazier when you get the "tone" x-y morph. Subtle effects are possible, too.

Post

I should have been more clear...the early presets you did for Impact, will something similiar be available for/within Ironhead when released?

I think they are untranslatable into the current version.

Sorry, I don't much know whati's going on data-wise inside .fxps.

Ugo, if you sell enough of these is there any chance of:

1) saving a specific drum's state to post into another preset for quick mix'n'match of different drumset pieces? (I realize that would be a hellish amount of work)

2) any chance of getting per-drum (or per-page, so 2 to 3 rums) LFO modulators? I realize that would crush my processor like a monkey under a steamroller, but I'm already doing it with multiple instances of the VSTi hehe. :)

i would love to but i couldnt come up with a good way to do this without having some custom coding done for me, which i cant afford to have done at the moment. so the synth would have to be a hell of a hit for me to be able to afford to hire someone for the work.

perhaps but we'll have to see how it goes. a big part of my plan for this synth has been to keep it 'to the point' and very easy to use, and part of that is in the limiting of features. also, my suspicion has been that in actual composition the majority of people would be using the morphing as an accent rather than as a constant thing on a whole lot of kit parts at once.

that said, depending on how the synth is received by users, and what their likes and disliked turn out to be, i very well may expand various areas of the synth, including the modulation.

btw if you happen to have a hardware XY controller around, its fun to modulate a kit piece's tone control in realtime. :)

You're totally correct there about the morphing as an accent.

In fact, just the "variation" control per-drum takes care of that quite nicely.

As to X-Y, you are indeed correct:

By the way the Tunguska GUI is... epic.

very, very soon. :)
i've asked a few people to give tunguska one last round of testing for me, to make sure its ok. (particularly since i cant do much testing myself now until i get my audio card / computer problems fixed.) beyond that though, i think i've got everything ready for launch. so if all goes well with this last quick round of tests, then i should be able to release them within a day or two.
