Actually, as a user of several DAW programs (including SAWStudio), I see it the other way around.

Recent comments about SAWStudio in this forum include describing it as "a rude joke" and "a Cairo whore's g-string."

Forget it, John Dale, this forum is riddled with foul language, and endlish childish debates that go on and on--where the "host warriors" tweak each other in ways which seek to describe the most bodily fluids and what people can do with them. And, of course, all the old timers seem to have been at Abbey Road Studios in its heyday. And the "loop kiddies" watch the gladiators with awe.

Of course, when people graduate from here, they can work they way up to GearSlutz. :D

That's some bad acid ;)

It was a stupid debate then, it's a stupid debate now.

Koolkeys,

FWIW, there's a good post on this thread by a SAW user in Nashville, doing live sound, lights and recording on location:

http://www.sawstudiouser.com/forums/sho ... 739&page=2

Scroll down to the post by 'Studio-C' with all the pictures in it. Pretty amazing use of available resources by the engineer.

Whether or not this person lives and has a studio in Nashville, I have no idea, but I think it's probably safe to say that some folks in that area are certainly running SAW through it's paces and getting very satisfactory results.

I would guess that among the thousands of studios, of course there may be a few that might use SAW. But I bet you wouldn't find them easily. It's because it's just not used much here. I personally have never talked to or seen an engineer that uses it. And in talking to other people who go around to different studios, they have never seen it either. And some of these people are working on VERY large projects.

So yes, it MAY be used by some. But you will be very hard pressed to find a studio that runs it as their primary application. It's just not a standard here. Not that it's bad, but it's just not a standard.

No offense meant, really. I'm just stating what I know.

I think it's pretty well given everywhere that ProTools is the DAW standard. I don't think anybody (except that guy at the radio station ; ) is claiming SAW to be the Nashville standard, but it *is* a kick-ass piece of software that stands tall on it's own. The only 'offense' I take here on this thread is when people slag the software in ways that are not meaningful or accurate. I think it's a superb piece of work that deserves respect from users and non-users alike.

Just my opinion!

And I'm not slacking on the software, or it's users. Much of my frustration in this thread has been towards those who make broad assumptions that only pros use SAW, and that it's the "most pro".

I have NOTHING against SAW or it's users, and have never stated anything to the contrary. Hey, I don't use ProTools or Nuendo, and those are the two standards here in Nashville. I use Tracktion and others.

I'm not attacking anyone who uses SAW. I'm not attacking the program. I'm sure it's great for you. And if it is, I don't think that anything else would be better, including Tracktion, ProTools, etc. You'd be foolish to use anything else if SAW does what you want it to.

I think some people still seem to think I'm attacking them. You're wrong. I'm not.
