Waves will work in energyXT with this handy free utility. Ran once, it allows eXT to see all the Waves plug-ins individually.
OUTSTANDING :-o
Exactly... Can't beat XT, and that little patch by polac lets Waves run smooth as butter.

eXT does work with the tool you provided, but anyway, it seems that it does not automatically save its configuration with the host song (upon project reload in cubase, eXT is empty, so I would have to manually save and reload an eXT configuration). Is this a demo restriction (it says that the demo will not load projects; does this mean eXT project files or also data saved by the host application)?

By the way: the Waveshell plug-in is needed to use the VST versions of the Waves plug-ins. Some of the plug-ins (but not all, and that is quite annoying) can also be used as DX, but e.g. the ACON chainer, which can load DX plug-ins also, crashed anyway (see above).

Phrazor is not the right kind of VST FX plug-in since it does not recall its project when I reload the song in Cubase (New Cubase song -> choose Phrazor as FXT/LAN effect for a track -> load some plug-ins in Phrazor -> save Cubase song -> load Cubase song again -> Phrazor is EMPTY, so I have to manually reload the project in Phrazor). At the same time, Phrazor does not treat Waveshell correctly: upon reloading the Phrazor project, it asks for which plug-in in the shell to load --- this information should have been stored in the project!

ConsoleVST does not work. The ConsoleVST.dll and ConsoleVSTi.dll, which I have copied into the main VST plug-in folder, cannot be found by FX-Teleport when scanning the available plug-ins on the slave machine (that IS strange because FXT finds all other new plug-ins described above in that same folder). Anyway, the dll files are dated 2004, I doubt that VST 2.3 has already been known back in 2004.

Any other suggestions?

the demo limitation of eXT is indeed that it will not load projects back up. As the host is simply giving it a project to load, that is why you're not getting it back.

It's very cheap, and as you've seen that it works, i would buy it. If it works for you as you say, buying it (for a tiny sum) will give you the restoring power you wish for.

You really are asking a lot if you aren't willing to pay eXT's small price.
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

VB Audio's FFX-4 (freeware) can be loaded into VST Host and it loads DX effects. By chaining (loading new FFX-4 into one or more FFX-4 slots) you can get more than just four effects into chain. ;)

Also, by installing Sonar 5 demo, it's VST Adapter makes all VST plugins DX compatible --> you can then load all VST effects into FFX-4 ;)

XL, You know you can save your FXT (not EXT, to avoid confusion) patches as well?

The price is not the problem - I just did not want to buy and then realize that is does not completely recall the last project data from the host software. Now, since it does, consider me a new eXT user.

Thanks for the hint, Juha. Anyway, if there is a solution which is "native" VST and straightforward, I will prefer that.

I think most usable has been mentioned already ... maybe

- XLUTOP Chainer (already mentioned) - http://www.xlutop.com/html/chainer.html
- CTAF MultiFXVST - http://www.ctaf.free.fr/dokuwiki/doku.p ... slogiciels
- Steinberg V-Stack - http://www.steinberg.net/29_1.html (!System link)
- Sonicbytes Phrazor (does this work as a Rack/Chainer when loaded as VST ?) - http://www.sonicbytes.com/phrazor/phrazor.htm

I don't know if any of these are VST 2.3 compatible.

Yes, but I do not need that. I just use the host for recalling the last state of FXT (and that is what I expect from every plug-in).

FIY: eXT, at least in my configuration, does not work as a VST instrument if used more than one time in a cubase song. If I try to use two instances in a song, it will work in the first place, but when reloading the song in cubase, the system will halt/crash while the second eXT VSTi loads.

So, eXT is a good program, but it does not seem to be able to work in several instances in the same song.

Post

You can always load eXT within itself, though.
