i love the sounds of ephonic's tape delay plugs, but when i always start up a render or a new project involving them, they always start off with some sort of pitch bend... any way to eliminate this? its just weird to have to wait for it to catch up...
any help?

why dont you insert a block of silence at the start of your sequence?
that is part of the 'digital/daw' effect too, having an instant start to a track without any noise or anything else going on in the inital few seconds. it might improve all the tracks out there to have a bit of a fade at the start.

okay but are maybe any programming workarounds? like maybe he could fix it? i found it on even the new beta delay as well, what a shame... i personally have been an avid fan of interruptor's tape delay modules, they are so awesome, but for different effect, ephonics are so sweet, but have those limitations

I was just delaying some snares that came in after 2 min. in my remix, there was nothing goin' on in that sequencer track prior. ONLY when I render the piece (within LIVE) the first snare appears delayed detuned, when I just regulary hit play and listen to it, it sounds fine (so rendering that part via TAPE IT plug went well). rpc you also had this problem when you just play it normally (as you wrote "or a new project involving them") ? Think must be a bug inside the e-phonic.

yeah it blew me away on how many people hyped it up and justly so, but it seems like a bug to me

I've not had that problem. My nightmare with it is always in the automation. Turning it on and off. Then I stop the song in the middle and start over and nothing happens. Seems like evry time I use it I spend ages messing around making sure it's in the right state at the start of the song.

hmmm... it sounded like it was an intentional design factor at first to simulate the effect of a tape delay being started from a dead stop until others weighed in saying they've never encountered it.
if it really is a bug, then the "pre-roll" recommendation is a useable workaround if the sound only occurs when you turn the effect on. does it do a reverse pitchbend on shut down?
is there a "continuous use' switch or something to that effect button in the program. i'm still inclined to believe it was designed to do that as real tape delays do it too. just get it up to speed before your songs like someone said.

Why don't you email e-phonic? You can contact him via: http://www.e-phonic.com/plugins/ (the contact button is top right).
It'll do you a lot more good than hoping he notices this thread! PJ only seems to come on to KVR when he has something new to announce, he's not addicted like some of us!
Oh, and he's a very nice chap so be scared now!

He's also very retired. He announced it here quite some time ago. This latest plugin was an anomelie. He said he's not doing any more VST development, and that was so long ago, I'm honestly surprised his webpage is still up. Some of the greatest freebies here and we were sad to see him go, but he had other things to do; he said he just didn't have the time anymore.the way wrote:Why don't you email e-phonic? What I do when I run into plugins that do this is "prime the pump" -- move the whole song back a few bars, and stick something on that channel that triggers the effect. Then it's easy enough to cut out the unwanted blip at the start, after rendering.

Although he said he'd "retired" he's already said that he's planning to update Tape Delay:
Original thread here. PJ is also very good at responding to emails and would be able to answer whether or not the problem Ron is having is a bug or a feature.e-phonic wrote:Yeah, a wet/dry and time sync is a must... i know.
I'll try to add more features when i can.
Cheers,
