Play what you feel and feel what you play.

Not just a look! It's got a lot of new stuff. Check out Loop Club for example! A way to pick up all kinds of loops, one shots and more ala carte. You hear the demo and what you hear is what you get. The "official" launch and announcement of the site change is next week. But, it's there now anyway so go check it out! www.esoundz.com

Congrats on the slick, new website. :tu:

Thanks Beast. There are a lot of things I'll be talking about regarding new features, downloadable sounds and other stuff.

Just to say that I like the new look and feel of the Sonic Reality site.

The personal recommendations also caught my eye. However I have already purchased 3 out of 7 of them. ;) Mind you, they are so good, perhaps I'll buy them again :)

Thanks. The new IK Bundles have been hot sellers. Here are all the links:

Total Studio Bundle (7 plug-ins, 8,000 sounds, 90 different fx models... basically like 90 effect plug-ins!)

http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=1415

and the upgrade version

http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=1418

JUST the effects:

http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=1413

and the upgrade version:

http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=1416

or JUST the workstation plugins ST, SS2 and Miroslav:

http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=1414

and the upgrade version of that:

http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=1417

Now keep in mind guys that if you own ANY IK product (even an OEM "Lite version" that comes with your sound card or ProTools or an Expansion Tank) then you qualify for the upgrade version. Here's a little buyer's hint: You CAN actually go to www.esoundz.com and at the SAME TIME buy an Expansion Tank and then pick the UPGRADE versions of any of those bundles...all I can say is DO THE MATH and you will realize that this way you save money AND get a free library. ;) All you have to do is make sure you just register the Expansion Tank's SampleTank 2 LE FIRST and then the bundle upgrade will authorize no problem.

I think I am going to make a new thread with this post just to let people know that it is off pre-order now and is shipping.

How do we buy loops in Loop Club. There is no price, just points. I don't understand - are these bought using Epointz?

No, not epointz. They are "Loop Club Credits". You have two options:

1. Purchase "extra credits" in bulk and then for each download it subtracts from your credits (until you purchase more)

or

2. For half that price you can do a re-occuring subscription. So instead of $20 it is $10. for the same amount of loops. The only difference is that it is a re-occuring charge per month AND there is no roll-over of credits so you do have to use up those credits within that month... this is for the sound JUNKIES! lol Of course, the good part is that you can cancel anytime anyway so most people do the subscriptions to save 50%.

More information is on this page: http://www.esoundz.com/loops/about.php

Thanks Dave! I was just curious. I'm not into using loops these days (all my time is spent at trying to get better at orchestral scoring) but I might want to try loops again soon.

Cheers,
Gordon

Funny thing for me is that for YEARS I've never been into loops (which is why SR didn't do many) and now I am totally into loops. They are totally amazing because of what they bring in terms of speed and added creativity coming from other sources. You can still "play it yourself" anytime but to experiment around with different "clips of sessions" essentially... well, it is at the very least a lot of fun, a great way to write, a life-saver on scoring gigs and also a way to do things musically that you normally wouldn't do (not to mention have the sound of authentic playing in some cases of an instrument that you can't play as well from midi).

Anyway, Loop Club is ideal for the person who wants just the specific loops they hear since "what you hear is what you get" with the one for one mp3 demos of the loops. That's really great for being in the middle of working and thinking "hmmm, I need a really good authentic sounding Steely Dan beat or a horn riff" and then searching esoundz Loop Club for that specific thing (eventually we'll have practically everything you could think of).

I never really learned how that can be done effectively. Loops are fun but always felt like cheating somehow. Maybe I'm becoming more neurotic, but I need to play or program note by note to feel that a piece is really my own work.

Hey Gordon,

Not that I'm any good at this at all but:

http://home.comcast.net/~beergeek/YouKnowIneedYou.mp3

The drums on that one are 2 REX files from RAW REX and the acoustic guitars are 2 REX files from RAW REX as well.

I played parts of the loops with Kontakt 2.

and

http://home.comcast.net/~beergeek/rexikmix2.mp3

That one is 9 loops from RAW and NOTHING else.

Neither of these are mixed very well as I really am just learning about mixing and such.

I think of these as my own compositions because I didn't use the loops straight outta the box. I'd like to think I did something creative with them but your mileage may vary. ;-) I'm sure not everyone will agree.

I find it fun to do and I don't always have time to record stuff or sit down and write something entirely from scratch...

Anyway, neither of those 2 pieces may change your mind but maybe they'll show you some value in it...

Best,
Rob

Wow, those tunes sound awesome! I've always loved loops but I haven't found useful ones on anything but bass, percussion and drums. But those guitars are great! I specially like that acoustic, I could use some of those…. It's too bad RAW comes with way too many things I would never use… is the Acoustic Rex Pack going to have some of those loops from RAW?

Post

Thanks Beergeek. Very cool - can't imagine how you did that.

I certainly didn't want anyone to think that I am against using loops or suggesting that it is not creative detracting from originality. Far from it. It takes much more talent than I have to make music with loops. I have not been successful at geeting what I want out of them. I was merely stating my own discomfort with using them to compose my music...dysfunctional as that is.

Best,
Gordon

Gosh...thanks to both of you..,you're both very talented musicians so I really appreciate your remarks!

It's all editing really...and I guess seeing the potential in a loop...I chop 'em, pitch shift 'em, play 'em and just generally mangle 'em to suit my ears

Like Squids has said, RAW is so very diverse...I'm a guitar player and I certainly could have played those parts but sometimes using a loop you like in different ways can be really inspiring. Does it really make a difference whether I played the notes, recorded them and then comped the performances? In some cases, loop editing is just a faster way of doing something and sparking your creativity.

In fact, on the first one, I played the bass part and edited it, turned it into a loop and played some of it in Kontakt for the chorus.. All we really do in DAW's is edit loops...I just didn't make most of the ones in those songs...BUT...I did actually compose the pieces around the original loops.

I remember my brother telling me back in 1998-99 about Acid and how it was so cool....and this guy is a major musician. I bought it (I think it was around 2.0 then) and just couldn't get into it..I felt then the same way you do now Gordon...

But I don't feel that way about loops any longer ;-)
Play what you feel and feel what you play.
