I have to say, there is something to both Colortone and the SSL plug-ins on a 2-bus; the mix just seems to smooth out a bit, very pleasing sound. I don't know how accurately they reproduce the real thing, but I'm beginning to get a little addicted to it, and I'm starting to notice it in professional records too. I definitely think it shaves a bit of harshness off, but you have to be careful.

yes Colortone on the 2 buss is dam good there's nothing out there like it! they were talking about a sumtone plug-in a short time a go that was for mix groups that would be like crazy glue

Colortone processes L and R separately or using the plugin that way produces good results ?

that's what I'm saying but it wouldn't be out for a long time to come I suspect with all the stuff on there bench plus they work slow with good results

Colortone processes audio in dual-mono, so you just insert it and go.

yep that will work but watch stereo field on the 2-buss you can get in to trouble. thats how my buss compressor is set

stop the dual mono nonsense now!

every stereo plugin, and I mean absolutely every single one is dual mono unless specifically stated it isn't.

everything means everything, apart from some stereo linked compressors, imaging processors or reverbs.

unless you specifically wanted separate GUI controls for both channels of stereo, you can safely resign from this new club of idiots. stereo=two channels. nothing fancy about it when it comes to processing. plugins (and everything else for that matter) simply process two channels... separately.

Isn't the idea that there are slight variations in the stereo bus that aren't there in the super-accurate DAW world? I think that's what people are talking about.

different strokes for different folks I'm not going to argue one way or another or try to convince you! do what sounds good for you! try it if you like it use it if you don't then don't use it just like everything else do what you fill
