(hmm, I'm not sure this really deserves a whole topic...)

Sorry to do this at such a late date, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to pull out of the contest. The plugin I was working on has ended up with far more problems than I had anticipated (incredibly high cpu usage, weird obscure bugs suddenly appearing), and I just don't think it'll ever be usable. Really, the project was beyond me from the beginning, based on a misunderstanding of how phase vocoders work - I should have probably given up on it a couple of months ago and come up with a more realistic idea for a plugin.

I am, however, extremely grateful to Richard Dobson for his invaluable help with a bunch of issues relating to the plugin, even if I ultimately failed to get it working adequately.

- Niall.

Pros: Less competitors.
Cons: A nice plugin willn't see the daylight.

I know how it feels Niall...

I've thrown away 2 exciting ideas for the contest this summer after weeks of coding.

Sorry to hear that you didn't manage to get something done and usable on time.

mdsp what did you throw away?

a monophonic synth with a bowed string model as a supersaw oscillator.
and a blind spectral demixing plugin

I had some unexpected troubles, and some disapointment with these 2.
So I choose to do something less hightech but more musical.

It's like writting an album, you have to throw many songs to keep the good ones.
At least this is my way.

The released vs unreleased ratio is < 1.0

Mine goes along the lines of that, but polyphonic. And it sounds terrible...

That's a shame Niall, your plugs are good :)

Maybe next year?

I also did not finish my initial idea. Figured in time that it would be too big a challenge in the time I had left, so I went for something a little more realistic (effort-wise, that is, not sound-wise).

Sorry to hear you pull out of the contest Niall.

I just implemented the first idea I had. Now I'm feeling bad about that, I have thrown stuff away that did not work porperly though!
