Oh that's right I forgot. You never were too fond of the 4Front piano. I don't play a lot of Piano so usually I just load a Soundfont and tink away. I've said it before that when it comes to opinions about the sound of Piano Vst's, Bluedad has got to be considered an expert. 8)

Gershwin? Sounds more Bruce Hornsby to me. And the "reverb"/heavy pedal? Sorry, but if you had paid attention, you'd realise he was showing that it doesn't steal notes, even with a ton of polyphony. (He told you that was what he was doing...)

You can't really judge the sound from that video. I have a suspicion that the audio is as bad as the video. Do you have a higher-def version of the video? Or at least a high-def audio version?

Hello Garrard. I think that mistertoast was referring to the MP3 when he talks about Gershwin, so... but that doesn't really matter. Regarding the pedal, you are right - the main goal is to show that the VSTi doesn't steal notes, not that it should be played like that ;-)
I will try to get a host to place a higher definition file, this time of a classical piece, using another preset.

Dont judge this instrument from the video alone. This instrument has an amazing quality to it!! However, I'm pretty sure we're (the betatesters) still not allowed to reveal too many details.. so hold tight now guys ;)

Fernando, please don't get me wrong. I loved the stuff he was playing. I just wished for a better quality version of it to verify that the sound is as good as it seems to be. This was a much better demo to me than the MP3s. The piano seems to be what I am looking for and I feel much more comfortable saying that after seeing that video than back during the first thread that was posted on here. I can't wait to check out ManK's version.

Nothing special compared to Steinway D from Akustik Piano or Fiazoli from Collosus.Sounds dry and artificial to me.Pianos from Dimension Pro sound a lot better.I dont think this one will have any impact compared to Ivory,Akustik or various East West pianos.

I downloaded 4front Piano today and noticed this:
Sound is rich and suits both effect-based and melodic music styles. Few people (mostly piano tuners) would prefer mda-Piano instead.

spacefox: What has that reply to do with the product talked about here ?

loopwiz: I've been looking for ages for a good and dry sounding piano. Simply for the sake of mixing my stuff together and being able to apply my own favorite room-ambience. Why settle with default room ambience when you can set it yourself.... something that's not realistic when the sound is preprocessed.

From what I understood (from the other thread) the main advantages of this piano plug is absolutely no layer transitions, great playability, tiny filesize and that it's CPU usage can be extremely low compared to anything out there (except for pianoteq but that sounds more like a synth to me).

Then again I guess it's too early to judge a product that most of us haven't even seen yet.

No one knows. I don't even think the developer knows. Testers definetly don't know and questions about even the ballpark price are consistently met with silence.

So those may be simple questions, but they do not have answers yet.

I think he's just having a go at me; I'm the piano-tuner referred to on the 4Front(free) piano page.

Funny how one person thinks it's 'drenched in reverb and chorus' whilst another thinks it's 'dry'.

It must be truly exasperating to be a developer sometimes.

I'm watching this topic because Dimension Pro pianos were not sampled with a lot of hard playing in the middle register. As such, DimPro is good for ballads more than pop/rock piano.

I actually like Sonic Reality's steinway pianos for pop/rock, but I'm no longer writing with Sampletank due to it's Challenge / Response implementation causing reliability issues.

This 4Front looks promising as a good blend of performance and quality.

The video is impressive. But for an instrument that doesn't sound as "real" as say a sampled piano library would, I think they would do much better to undercut those libraries cost wise. If I paid a hundred bucks for that I feel I would be getting good value for the money. Any more and I would certainly start to compare it to a sampled library and for me the quality isn't quite there for a solo instrument. Mixed in with the band it would sound fine but alone...I don't know...so there it is. $100.00 and I would consider adding this to my current library of plugs...
