You don't get feedback because your sound card introduces latency. For most of us, that's a benefit. ;) Does your sound card offer real time/no latency monitoring at all?

You can run two different distortion types in 4 selectable bands, compression/expander in different bands etc. That would give you the ability together with lfo driven filters to open up a frequency range that would be typical of the harmonics of a feedbacked signal. Having one frequency band with a compressor setting that makes it comes through shortly after attack. There are various options how to control filters stage.

I think what happends in feedback loop is that mainly high range remains, dominating totally over low range.
I don't suppose you could post a preset for this? I am having trouble getting started.
